"We're gonna build the world's biggest and best bowling ball game!" — Phineas[src] |
The World's Largest Bowling Ball is a bowling ball built by Phineas and Ferb to hold the biggest game and consequently shatter a world record.
History[]
Linda and Lawrence ask Candace to supervise the boys while they go to an adult bowling session. Interested in the activity, Phineas and Ferb request permission to use a rusty lawn set, to which their parents agree before leaving. Outside, the brothers consider possibilities of improving the target batch for a grand game, just as Baljeet shows up with information on size records as listed in a reference book, motivating them to break one in time for the afternoon award exhibition at the fair.
Phineas and Ferb rapidly get to work on the enormous ball, falling asleep beside it upon completing its design. Soon afterwards, the gang gathers for a round of bowling, cataloging each strike in the big competition. During it, the noise startles Candace, who stomps into the backyard to find out the day's antics, getting the idea of guiding the invention to her mother so that it cannot disappear. Taking her siblings' offer, she pretends to want a turn, bypassing the house's limits once she gets a hold of the controls.
Believing Candace to be freestyling, the kids set out to follow her around using their own normal rides. She nearly reaches the alley, but is knocked by an incoming car onto a work zone, wherein the handle breaks off, landing the ball inside the tunnels. Keeping the chase, the group almost catches her in a station, settling then to halt her with a downtown pinball improvisation, a play that leads them to the awards show, where they manage to showcase their creation prior to its crash on a mob of gigantic penguins ("Bowl-R-Ama Drama").
Design[]
The World's Largest Bowling Ball is a giant sphere with a black envelope and three outer circular cavities, replicating a bowling ball's typical form. Interior-wise, it encompasses a dark gray round enclosure, a green console, a dark green button panel, a black elevated viewing monitor, a red steering trackball, a blue seat, and a teal seatbelt.
Mechanics[]
The World's Largest Bowling Ball is a piloted machine maneuvered with a control ball. Maintained in level on a gyroscope, the cockpit provides a frontal field of vision on the monitor, enabling a reactive drive. A loose ride can be triggered by the push of the stabilization disabler, unleashing a directionless roundabout.
Background Information[]
- The old lawn-bowling set picked up by the boys comprises a regular ball and three dusty pins.
- According to Baljeet, the world record for the biggest bowling ball is held by a 4 feet (1.22 m) long one. In reality, this achievement was attained by the Big Bowl, a big things structure measuring in at 6 feet 2 in (1.87 m) in diameter.
- In the construction, Phineas and Ferb are shown putting together the cover, controller wires, and the monitor.
- Waking up next to the finished ball, Phineas confirms his previous thought of he and Ferb being able to do the task in their sleep, a literal interpretation of a phrase employed to describe easiness.
- Phineas gets four strikes in a row during the game, presumably one more than Buford, who gets mad at the result.
- Ferb is in charge of the score annotations, in addition to resetting the pins for every round in a judge seating panel.
- Before chasing Candace, the kids touch their own garage buttons to 'summon' their modes of transportation; a scooter for Phineas, a bike for Ferb, roller blades for Isabella, a unicycle for Baljeet, and a skateboard for Buford. This sequence is an allusion to the anime series Voltes V, known for its "Volt In" moments.
- Phineas and Ferb accomplish an innovative best, the largest pinball machine. In actuality, this feat was earned by the Italian branch of Heineken, which built a device of 53 feet 9 in (16.4 m) in length.
- The bowling ball's trajectory involved the Danville Arena, the Super Food Stuff Mart, the Movie Theater, the Danville Harbor, and the Googolplex Mall.
- At the fair, Isabella makes use of the invention's path to obliterate the Knock 'Em Down game, much to the stand owner's bewilderment.
- In the end, the collision course is orchestrated by Perry in a clever usage of a huge pipe to stop his nemesis' scheme, inadverently docking Candace on Jeremy's car in the Ferris wheel.
- The World's Largest Bowling Ball is remembered by Candace during her relating of Phineas and Ferb's antics to Linda, in which it is exemplified with a five-pin bowling set ("Rollercoaster: The Musical!").
- The World's Largest Bowling Ball is seen in the montage of clips used by Irving in his video dedicated to Phineas ("Phineas' Birthday Clip-O-Rama!").
- A recreation of the World's Largest Bowling Ball is used to repel Doofenshmirtz-2's invasion of the Tri-State Area (Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension).
- In the game Robot Riot!, the World's Largest Bowling Ball is a passerby object that can destroy incoming Norm Bots on contact in Area 9.
