Training nuts? Okay, what did I miss?

— Ferb Fletcher

When Ferb returns from Debate Camp early wondering the project he missed, Phineas and the gang tell him the story of yesterday's project - training domesticated squirrels to live in the wild. Meanwhile, Dr. Doofenshmirtz tells Perry what happened to his last scheme the day before.

Episode Summary[]

The gang is sitting under the tree, talking about what they did the day before. Ferb walks in with Perry, revealing that he had finished debate camp earlier than expected, having changed another camper's worldview. Phineas offers him muffins, prompting Ferb to ask what he'd missed. This leads Phineas to recount the day for him.

Phineas originally planned to help Isabella earn her surfing patch, and had made miniature prototype surfboards so that she could choose a design. Isabella thinks that squirrels could ride on them, and Baljeet and Buford show up with a box of rodents, but the squirrels have been domesticated.

Perry lands in his lair, and Major Monogram reports that Danville is suffering from a shortage of peaches. He tells Perry to go after Doofenshmirtz, but Perry exits in mid-sentence. Phineas continues the story when Candace shows up, wanting to know what he and his friends are up to. When she hears that he's telling the story of what they did yesterday, she decides to get Linda so that she can hear it and bust the boys.

Perry arrives on the beach and is trapped under a bucketful of sand. Doofenshmirtz tells Perry that he is at the beach to do something with his Peach-Cobbler-inator, but he has to explain the previous day's story first. In the previous day, Doofenshmirtz, at his evil lair, is expecting Perry when Agent R shows up instead. He attempts to trap Agent R, but since the trap is small, it does not hold the rhinoceros. Doofenshmirtz then reveals his plan to use his A-Leaky-Faucet-inator to drop one huge drop of water on Roger.

In the Flynn-Fletcher backyard, Candace brings Linda out to listen to Phineas' story. Buford continues by explaining that they taught squirrels the basics of living in the wild through eating nuts, looking cute, dodging cars, climbing trees, and dancing.

Back at the beach, Doofenshmirtz continues his flashback. Having loaded the inator onto his rocket skiff along with Agent R, he arrives at the beauty contest and prepares to drop water onto Roger. Doofenshmirtz activates the A-Leaky-Faucet-inator, but is annoyed when Agent R does not attempt to stop him. In an attempt to initiate this, he unlocks the shackle on Agent R's ankle, but the rhino walks away, unbalancing the rocket skiff, and causing it to spin rapidly and launch the giant water drop.

Meanwhile, the kids are still training the squirrels when the water droplet lands in the backyard. The squirrels ride the wave using the prototype surfboards, much to Candace's frustration when she attempts to bust the boys moments later.

Roger is concluding the talent portion of the beauty contest when Doofenshmirtz and Agent R land on stage, having fallen from the skiff. Doofenshmirtz starts riding the rhinoceros like a rodeo bull, impressing the judges. Concluding his story, Doofenshmirtz tells Perry that he was crowned and has become obsessed with contests, and plans to use his Peach-Cobbler-inator to get the judges to declare his Peach Cobbler the winner. While Heinz is boasting, Perry throws a handful of sand on the inator, shorting it out. Doofenshmirtz laments and throws it behind him, and it fires once as it hits the ground. Perry flies away and the rocket skiff lands on Doofenshmirtz before being swept away.

Phineas concludes his story, but to Candace's chagrin, Linda is proud of the boys for teaching squirrels how to survive. Candace complains that she wants them punished, but she is hit by the Peach-Cobbler-inator's ray, making her want peach cobbler, which Linda happens to have made.

Isabella: What'cha doin, back from debate camp so soon?

Buford: Oh! Oh! Say "Where's Perry?", now I've been practicing

Memorable Quotes[]

Debater: (to Perry) You're right. (to judges) Judges, he's right. He's changed my entire world-view. And I thought that British kid was persuasive.
Phineas: (voiceover) It all started simply enough. I got up early to help Isabella earn her surf patch.
Isabella: Thanks for helping me earn my surf patch!
Phineas: (voiceover) And I told her it was no problem.
Phineas: No problem!
(Isabella looks annoyed at something)
Phineas: (voiceover) It was at that point that I decided to stop narrating.
Isabella: What's Rochambeau?
Phineas: Rock, Paper, Scissors.
Isabella: Why didn't he just say that?
Buford: (Angrily) In what universe would a piece of paper ever beat a rock?
Candace: (points at Phineas) Now, don't say another word until we get back. (she points at Ferb) And that goes for you, too.
(Candace walks away)
Phineas: That was ironic, because Ferb doesn't usually talk.
Candace: (off screen) Duh!
Linda: (waves) Hi, kids! (to Candace) All right, what's this all about?
Phineas: We're telling Ferb the story of what we did yesterday.
Linda: Oh, I love stories!
Candace: Oh, oh, it's not just stories, but full...dis-cloh-siah!
Linda: Okay.
Candace: No, you can't! I want justice! I want-(a ray from Doofenshmirtz's Peach-Cobbler-inator hits Candace) Peach Cobbler.
