"We're Back" is a song sung by Phineas, Ferb, Candace, and Doofenshmirtz during the end credits of Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe. It was released as a digital single by Walt Disney Records on August 14, 2020, along with a music video later that same day.
Lyrics[]
Lines in blue are only heard on the album
Phineas: Hey, everyone!
We're back…
All: We're back!
Phineas: In our own backyard!
We're gonna make the most of every day.
We've got plans.
They may be avant-garde,
But ya know we're gonna do them anyway.
It feels so good to be where we belong!
I guess that's the main bullet point of this little song
We're tuned up and right on track.
Baby, we're back!
All: Baby, we're back!
Candace: I'm back!
All: She's back!
Candace: And I'll tell you why:
There's still some things to be discussed.
Like how every day I try and try
And yet here we are and I still got some brothers to bust!
I work so hard. I plan and follow through,
But my mom still never sees anything that they do!
This time, I'm gonna launch a counterattack.
Baby, I'm back!
All: Baby, we're back!
Phineas: Yes, all our friends are here!
And Perry still tends to disappear.
But we're havin' fun and livin' large.
Candace: And this time, I'm gonna be in charge. (Be in charge… be in charge…)
Well, you know. Conditionally.
Doofenshmirtz: I'm back! I don't wanna scare ya,
And it may sound superfluous,
But I can really take over the Tri-State Area
If I can just defeat this platypus.
Phineas: We're back! Yeah, it's a brand new day.
We're rested and we're ready to jump into the fray.
Ferb: So you can put that in your almanac.
Phineas: Baby, we're back!
All: Baby, we're back!
Phineas: We're back! And we're feelin' groovy.
On Disney+, you can watch our brand new movie!
It's just a simple statement of facts.
Baby, we're back!
All: Baby, we're back!
Phineas: Baby, we're back!
All: Baby, we're back!
Phineas: Baby, we're back!
All: Baby, we're back!
Phineas: Baby, we're back!
Production information[]
- Background vocals were provided by Danny Jacob, Aaron Jacob, and Laura Dickinson.
- The song was mixed by Gabe Moffat.
- According to Dan Povenmire during a live chat held on Walt Disney Records's official YouTube channel on August 14, 2020 to mark the premiere of the music video, this song was the first song he and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh wrote over FaceTime during the quarantine. The horns and violins were recorded by an orchestra in Berlin, Germany, requiring them to be up at 3 AM California time to oversee the recording.
Trivia[]
- Phineas breaks the fourth wall by mentioning Disney+ by name, the fact that people can stream this film, and acknowledging that he and the other characters are in a movie.
- The music video is made up of clips from past episodes. In some scenes, the characters' mouths were reanimated to give the impression that they're lip-syncing to the words, sometimes even changing expressions, and some scenes with background clips of previous episodes were replaced as well (such as placing the Disney+ logo in the background when Phineas says the Disney+ reference line).
- The following episodes made up the video, and are listed in order of first appearance:
- David Errigo Jr. voices Ferb in this song instead of being dubbed for the sake of comedy.
- This is the sixth time Ferb uses his natural voice to sing ("The Ballad of Badbeard", "The Twelve Days of Christmas", "Bubble Gum", "Gordian Knot", "Adulting").
- To promote the movie, a shorter version of the song was shown on Disney Channel and Disney XD.[1]
