"We're gonna build a trebuchet to shoot ourselves to Europe." — Phineas[src] |
The Warp Trebuchet is a trebuchet built by Phineas and Ferb as a means of reaching an overseas region in search of delicious lost berries.
History[]
Linda puts down her groceries in the kitchen table, organizing the room while promising to cook pie for dinner. Unfortunately for the boys, Doonkelberry Pies are out of question thanks to their main ingredient going missing all over town. Intrigued, the brothers search on their laptop to locate a source of special berries in the globe, finding out that the antiquated country Drusselstein has a fair amount as an export venue. Craving the food, Phineas and Ferb resolve to head into the European territory.
In the backyard, the creative duo works out the physics of such an abnormal travel, when they are ambushed by the inquisitive Isabella. Her unexpected expertise on the topic amazes the boys, who enlist her help on the actualization of the project. Later on, the trio polishes a colossal siege engine, which is coupled with a space bender manned by Baljeet in order to shorten the distance between home and Central Europe. Loosening the cord, the kids successfully launch themselves onto a foreign land.
The group perceives a solitary fruit stand in the outskirts, the owner of which clarifies the reason for a shortage of fabricated goods. Grasping the gravitas of the whole situation, they decide to settle the irrational conflict once and for all, firstly talking it out with both sides. Amidst bickering, Phineas and Ferb come up with a foolproof strategy, sawing the power shaft in half so that each party can be independent. Now certified heroes, the duo is given a pack of fresh fruits before projecting back safely ("The Doonkelberry Imperative").
Design[]
The Warp Trebuchet is a medieval catapult with a brown double triangle wooden stout frame base, two brown pill-shaped wooden beams, two gray square axles, a beige holding rope, and a light brown cloth sling. The Bending Generator is a light bulb-form apparatus with four red spherical conductors, three brown cables, a red lever, and a light blue panel.
Mechanics[]
The Warp Trebuchet is a counterweight trebuchet using the force of gravity as its basis. Potential energy accumulated in the beam-axle component is released upon unfastening the attached string, enabling a powerful projectile launch course. With the warping mechanism, the path length attained is significantly increased at the touch of a control button.
Background Information[]
- Hearing that her children are checking the web for fruits, Linda comments on how she is "berry" interested in the search results, making a pun on the words "berry" and "very".
- As pointed out by Isabella, the two types of trebuchet employ gravity (counterweight) and tension spring (traction), with Phineas and Ferb utilizing the former due to their machine's size.
- Isabella has specialized knowledge on classical devices because her first accomplishment was the Medieval Siege Engine Patch, much to the boys' disbelief.
- Replying to Isabella's query on range, Phineas acknowledges that it is somewhat cheating to bend space so as to make it up for the lack thereof, citing that traditional engineers would have done the same if the technology were developed then.
- While scavenging for books at Vanessa's place, Candace observes her siblings' invention from a telescope.
- To return to Danville, Phineas, Ferb, and Isabella ride an identical trebuchet to theirs, constructed by Drusselsteinian people.
- Once the trio is out of the country, the Drusselsteinians repeat their arguing, this time concerning what order of the boys' names should be used on a new holiday.
- Still at the observation lounge, Candace calls her mother to notify about a recent creation of the boys stationed in the backyard. The girl mistakenly elbows the "fire" button of the nearby machine, sending a disappearance beam towards the trebuchet prior to the parent's view.
- Following their journey, Phineas, Ferb, Isabella, and Baljeet all get to eat some Doonkelberry Pie crafted by Linda.
- In the end, Doofenshmirtz attempts to slingshot himself from his homeland with a car in the same manner as the gang, but Baljeet corrects the spatial gap between the continents before the jump is complete, landing the doctor in the ocean.
