"Van Stomm's Rule One" is a song from the episode "Bully Bust" sung by Buford, where he explains the first rule on his family's list of rules.
Lyrics[]
Buford: Well...
Van Stomms wake up better
Than anyone else on Earth
It's because we have rules for sleeping
That we seem to know at birth
Rule One is to set the alarm clock
To precisely the proper hour!
And make sure you've got time to eat breakfast,
Get dressed, brush your tooth, and maybe a shower.
We're careful with our alarm clocks,
We're not sloppy like those other chumps
'Cause Rule Two's if you mess up and set it too early
You show up and takes your lumps
Demo version[]
Buford: You know sumthin' about the Fletchers,
You know sumthin' about the Flynns,
The Garcia-Shapiros, Patels [sic] and the John-syns!
Candace: It's Johnson, actually.
Buford: I'm not tryin' to berate you,
Merely tryin' to educate you.
There's sumthin' you must know about Van Stomms.
Candace: Van Stomm? That's your last name, right?
Buford: Yep.
Van Stomms wake up better
Than anyone else on Earth,
It's because we have rules for dreamin'
That we seem to know at birth.
Rule One is to dream of water,
Or ice or the color blue,
Rule Two is don't dream about fallin' or flyin'
Or tyin' your best friend's shoe.
Rule Three is remember to eat lots of jam
When ducks are twistin' your arm,
But none of these rules ever seem to work right
And that's why we set the alarm!
So, anyway, that's why I woke up early. What's your excuse?
Background Information[]
- This is the second time Buford is shown as a baby ("Phineas and Ferb: Summer Belongs to You!").
- In the demo version, Baljeet's surname is mentioned to be "Patel", although this would set up a continuity error as Baljeet's mother announced in "That Sinking Feeling", "The Patels are here" when Mishti arrived, so it was changed to Tjinder.
- The introduction of the demo version parodies that of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" ("You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen...").
