Why Doof was so abused as a child (and Roger was not)

As the title suggests, I think I've figured out the main reason why Heinz was abused so much by his parents and Roger was not. As revealed in Split Personality, Heinz failed to jump from the high dive. My thought is that Roger was able to do it and that's why he was favored by his parents.
