"Ladies and gentlemen, today we give you the new face of Totally Tools, Perry the Platypus!" — Phineas[src] |
The Totally Tools Sponsor is an advertisement campaign conceived by Phineas and Ferb to elevate their exotic pet into the fleeting spotlight.
History[]
Phineas and Ferb access the Totally Tools website on the family computer to register Perry in the company spokesanimal contest. Submitting the required information, the boys are instantaneously met with a phone call from the press, confirming their victory. At the firm headquarters, the platypus is presented to a quirky executive, who indicates the caretakers to come up with a catchy motif. Reasoning on a hat, the duo checks a plethora of accessories, satisfying the representative through a conspicuous fedora.
In the auditorium, Phineas and Ferb announce their propaganda plan to members of the media, rallying a sizeable support. The brothers' ads begin mass production posthaste, having a place in several billboards across the city. Commending the boys on their creativity, the manager wonders if they possess more extraordinary ideas, stemming an extra touches discussion. Meanwhile, Perry makes his way to the spy lair, unwittingly catching a deal of public fanfare, which forces him to be substituted by Agent S for the time being.
Returning from a business meeting, the department chief permits Phineas and Ferb to take the rest of the day off as appreciation for a brilliant work. The boys set out to enjoy an entire afternoon alongside their pet, forming a variety of memories throughout the lighthearted hours. While his owners play, the secret agent is enlisted to aid his threatened partner in an optimal opportunity to spoil the promotional posters using a wicked mustache device, swimmingly offending the CEO into ordering a complete design overhaul ("Perry The Actorpus").
Design[]
The Totally Tools Sponsor is an advert promotion centered on a fedora-wearing platypus, thus the slogan "nothing says Totally Tools like a platypus in a fedora". This unorthodox image is imprinted in yellow backgrounds with red fonts containing either backdrop rays or an orange gradient, and in a unique blue board with an orange font; the former illustrations depict the star next to wrenches, while the latter shows a chainsaw.
Activities[]
The Totally Tools Sponsor is a publicity stunt which incorporates a recognizable brand identity for increased awareness. Staged around the Danville area, it features a wide amount of adverts placed in billboards, walls, trucks, planes, blimps, buses, and certain public properties. Supplementary deeds include a smoke skywriting and diversified pamphlets.
Background Information[]
- Pondering the possibilities, the manager remarks on Perry's uniform sitting disposition, declaring it as a counterpoint to the common archetype of the idle platypus.
- To select a hat, Phineas and Ferb go through the following options:
|
|
- Once he is set on the fedora, the executive coins the campaign's slogan in the spur of the moment. The key phrase is reiterated by an excited publicist, thereafter spreading to the popular lexicon.
- Showcasing Perry to the company salesmen, the boys dress up like the late Apple chairman Steve Jobs.
- Replying to the manager's query for other ideas, Phineas states that Ferb has a sketch for an exploding billboard.
- When Perry leaves the corporate grounds to get his mission briefing, he uses his grappling hook in order to hitch a ride on a blimp, causing the observing public to mistake the action as a part of the publicity.
- Major Monogram commands his platypus spy to go on a hiatus in face of the unfortunate promotion, treating it as a "15 minutes of fame" situation.
- Done with the Busting Retreat, Candace perceives the sponsor's imagery in the general vicinity, pushing her to race home in hopes of a spectacular bust. The pictures are torn down before they can be seen by her parents, with the nearest one being replaced by a Sergei the Snail ad.
- Thwarted, Doofenshmirtz refers to his nemesis' recent position on the usual cursing, calling the agent a Mustachioed Tool Spokespus.
- The Totally Tools CEO instructs the advertisement revamping because the mustaches artificially inserted into the posters are uncannily similar to his own, leading him to believe that he is being mocked.
