"Ferb, I know what we're gonna do today! We're gonna build fast shoes, so we can run like a cheetah!"
Phineas[src]

The Super Shoes are a pair of fast shoes designed by Phineas and Ferb so that they can run faster than any animal.

History[]

Phineas and Ferb decide to construct speed shoes while watching a documentary about the cheetah, the fastest land animal. Following some research into motion dynamics, the boys finalize their project, testing the footwear in the backyard. Candace notices them running, and hears Phineas state that their creation almost lets one be in two places at once. Taking it as a solution to her conundrum, she puts on a pair of unstable prototypes laying next to her.

While the boys run experiments with the shoes, Candace starts to alternate between being at the library and at the Johnson Family Picnic. This leads her into a back-and-forth across town, eventually running through buildings, and passing by an in-sale apartment where she accidentally picks up a prospective buyer. Back at the picnic, Hilda recognizes the woman in Candace's arms as the lost relative Annabelle, finally respecting Jeremy's girlfriend ("Run, Candace, Run").

Design[]

The Super Shoes are a pair of gold shoes with black center circles, beige soles, and light brown undersides with brown markings for the heel and toes.

Mechanics[]

The Super Shoes are mainly based on kinematics, taking into account the human body's motion mechanics and reflexes to maximize the possible speed. This allows them to surpass sound, but not light.

Background Information[]

  • The documentary that inspires the boys is broadcast on the Uncovery Channel, a parody of Discovery Channel.
  • The analysis conducted by Phineas and Ferb in the process of making the shoes include comparing a human's movement to a cheetah's, noting a person's stamina limit, and examining feet reflexes.
  • In a voiceover, Phineas states that a portion of the shoes' physics is based on the pseudoscience of reflexology, an area of alternative medicine involving acupressure.
  • According to Phineas and Ferb's tests, the shoes can reach speeds above a drag racer and sound, but below light. This means that their maximum velocity is anywhere in between 767 and 670.6 million mph (1235 and 1.08 billion km/h).
  • When Candace puts on the shoes, its bottom side can be seen. In it, there are markings for four toes instead of five.
  • During the sound experiment, the boys create a sonic boom by running faster than sound. Despite this, no shock wave is seen while Candace runs.
  • The fact that the shoes cannot reach the speed of light is a demonstration of the physical law that dictates the impossibility of such a feat for conventional matter.
  • Candace has three commitments to attend to at the same time; the Johnson Family Picnic, reading a book to kids at the library, and performing with Stacy. However, she ignores the latter, likely because it would be too late to make it.
  • Counting every instance in the montage, Candace goes from one place to another twenty times, a total of ten occasions for each.
