| "It's a unique and logic-defying amalgam of winter and summer." — Ferb[src] |
S'Winter is a season created by Phineas and Ferb as an experiment of a chilly flavor of summer.
History[]
Phineas and Ferb are having trouble in thinking of something to do because of the heat. Noticing the situation, Lawrence hands them a snow cone machine for them to cool off with frozen delicacies, instigating the boys to devise a cold hangout spot in the backyard in prospect of ice amid the summer. While the brothers prep up the machinery, Isabella approaches them, offering the help of her troop for the realization of their project.
Soon, snow covers the Flynn-Fletcher yard, darkening the interior of the house enough for Candace to become wary. Opening her window, she observes the magnitude of the cold biome, pushing her to find a way of busting them for it. As the artificial season rolls out, the kids describe the joys of the mixed climate in a musical number, all the while the neighborhood citizens have fun in exotic ways.
Candace sees Jeremy passing by to ski with a friend, and decides to change her plans in order to find out more about this acquaintance of his. Upon reaching the top of the mountain with some help, she ends up sliding past her crush onto the cliff, eventually being intercepted by her siblings in a snowboard, with which they earn first place in a competition. In the end, the snow mountain melts due to a power outage before it could be seen by the boys' parents ("S'Winter").
Design[]
S'Winter is an artificially-designed biome based on a snow mountain, where there are multiple places reserved for different activities, including small forests and frozen lakes. Constitution-wise, the structure is formed by an upgraded version of the Christmas tree-shaped snow cone machine, and stabilized by several air conditioners and fans, allowing it to maintain a frigid climate in the summery warm.
Activities[]
S'Winter mixes up a handful of pastimes from both summer and winter. Among these are included skiing, sleighing, tanning, making a snow angel, snowball fighting, flying kites, water balloon fighting, ice skating, frozen water sliding, riding a ski lift, fishing, snowboarding, and bobsledding.
Background Information[]
- Considering the Christmas theme of the snow cone machine, and Phineas' mention of snow in July, it is likely that this plan's concept is based on the idea of Christmas in July.
- The snow cone machine functions by putting ice cubes to its interior, cranking the shaft, and adding one of the two complementary syrups; blue and purple. While explaining the process, Lawrence uses the phrase "Bob's your uncle", a British equivalent to "voilà".
- According to Phineas, the main reasoning for their project is that it is too cold to enjoy the snow in the winter.
- An alternate name for the season is "Wummer", as stated by Phineas and Lawrence.
- Candace dropping down from the mountain is an allusion to a similar chain of events that happens in the sister episode.
- In her pursuit of Jeremy, Candace falls in a frozen lake, getting stuck in a block of ice. She frees herself upon seeing him and D.D. skiing, angering her to sufficiently melt the ice.
- During the snowboard run, the kids pass through a snowman and a pine tree, fall down a part of the mountain, cross a bobsleighing course, go above a cloud, and fall in the podium.
- Within the bobsled track, Phineas walks over the three riders, jokingly calling them all "Bob" as a reference to the sport's name.
- Following the melting of S'Winter, Isabella invites the neighborhood people to have some of her mother's hot chocolate.
- The events of S'Winter are alluded to at a later time by Stacy as a reminder for Candace to have courage in going after Jeremy ("De Plane! De Plane!").
- S'Winter is referenced by Candace during her relating of Phineas and Ferb's antics to Linda, in which it is exemplified with the winter outfit ("Rollercoaster: The Musical!").
- S'Winter is mentioned in a later day, serving as the inspiration for a second combination of seasons ("Minor Monogram").
- S'Winter appears in one of the scenes of the montage recounting the summer ("Last Day of Summer").
