"We're gonna build an authentic Pioneer Town in our own backyard. And we're only gonna use Dad's antique collection of pioneer tools to do it." — Phineas[src] |
The Pioneer Town is a frontier town built by Phineas and Ferb with help from their friends to find out how it is like not to use technology.
History[]
Roger announces the victor of the Mayor For a Day contest, Candace. Believing her words on busting to be a metaphor for the economy, the mayor lets the teenager take over the office for the day, allegedly representing the pioneering spirit of the founding citizens. The speech incites Phineas and Ferb to construct something without technology for a change, leaving their sister to her duties so that they can get started.
Back at home, the boys begin traditionally modifying a piece of wood, piquing Isabella's interest. Explaining their plan to her, the brothers progress with their project, though the task proves to be more arduous than expected. Later on, the old area is nearly complete, with the remaining assignments being to get rid of a few odd individuals in the place, including the Crazy Old Coot, who babbles on about the town's supposed origin, to everyone's perplexity.
Unbeknownst to the kids, they are being watched by service men from afar, functioning as Candace's communication channel. Satisfied, the mayor has her right-hand woman contact the press and the media to stage a newsworthy bust. At her house, the eager teenager orders a subordinate to pick up her parents for the Big Bust, while the gang goes inside to rest after finishing their creation. Linda actually sees her children's exploits, but the day's events are reversed before she can ground them ("She's the Mayor").
Design[]
The Pioneer Town is an authentic Wild West city comprising a monochromatic terrain with four buildings, each having two of three floors entirely consisting of brown, beige, olive, and red wood, and gray stones. The entrances covered by either a triangular roof or an upper-layered balcony, the structures are complemented by style-accurate decorations, such as olive barrels, a rectangular gray canteen, brown hitching posts, and a four-face green-yellow-red totem pole.
Activities[]
The four locations in the Pioneer Town appear to provide different services; a Hotel, a Trading Post, and a Hardware store. Following cultural archetypes, the log cabin is likely supposed to represent a bar or a general hangout spot, rounding up the common frontier sites.
Background Information[]
- According to Phineas, the entire project is put together only using his father's antique collection of pioneer tools as an extra challenge.
- Aside from the Old Coot, the intrusive individuals are Mexichan lucha cattle wrestlers.
- As stated by Phineas, the Old Coot is there because every frontier town had one, alluding to the reportedly usual presence of such people around the Old West.
- The Old Coot's belief is that the Pioneer Town had been built atop an Indian burial ground containing a sizeable quantity of gold aspired by him.
- Isabella, Buford, and Baljeet all joined the plan in different stages of completion; the first helped from the start, the second in the middle, and the third by near finalization.
- Upon seeing footage of the city, Stacy compliments the kids' work, to Candace's disdain.
- To comply with the theme, each one of the kids wears a different attire:
- Phineas: Orange shirt; blue overalls; dark gray shoes; light orange hat with a dark orange stripe
- Ferb: Light yellow shirt; blue overalls; light brown shoes; raccoon hat
- Isabella: White shirt; lavender dress; black shoes; white hat with a lavender bow
- Baljeet: Brown and white shirt; blue striped pants; dark brown boots; blue hat with a dark blue stripe
- Buford: Gray shirt; light brown jacket; green pants; black belt with a light gray frame; beige boots; beige hat with a light brown stripe
- Buford and Baljeet showcase injuries received by them during the construction, these being snake bites, deer ticks, and sores. Adding on to their comment, Phineas surmises their work as having taken a lot of toil, pain, and sweat.
- Despite there being a Hardware store, such shops did not exist in the American frontier period. It is likely the equivalent of a traditional supplier, a typical business in that epoch.
- Although he has a positive outlook on the project's conclusion, Phineas agrees with Ferb's vow to never create a taxing invention again.
- The log cabin was an item in the campground map of the Summer Vacation Summerizer. Combining it with the Old Coot resulted in an animation of him demanding gold inside the place.
