Phineas and Ferb: Candace Against the Universe is a junior novel based on the eponymous film, published on November 17, 2020.
Book Summary[]
Phineas and Ferb: Candace Against the Universe is a near word-for-word adaptation of the flick of the same name, split in twenty-four chapters and an epilogue. Differences between the book and the movie as broadcast are noted below. In general, most of the discrepancies are related to certain sequences not as fitting to a print format, namely the musical numbers and screen-geared gags, alongside a few missing lines throughout. Artistic freedom is taken to compensate for some of these gaps, through they end up still largely trimmed.
Each page typically has a picture from the film that helps the reader visualize what is being described. The picture is a halftone screenshot cropped into custom shapes such as curved rectangles, with the added effect of bordering dots. An image of one or more characters is included at the beginning of every chapter, usually representing the portion of the story being told. A symbol consisting of three asterisks is utilized to denote a scene change from one perspective to another, permitting a plot flow similar to the base material.

Background Information[]
- In Chapter 2, Vanessa is wrongly described as having black hair.
- In Chapter 3, Major Monogram is incorrectly depicted with gray hair.
- From Chapter 4 to 5, a transition is done between the moment the kids decide to construct the portal to when they complete the device. Baljeet's statement of it taking a least a montage to do or a simple flip wipe is adapted into needing a chapter or an easy page turn.
- Chapter 13 has only a single phrase of chronicling, detailing Vanessa's circumstances in view of a perilous dragon. In a meta moment, the author directly addresses the unusual length, amusingly apologizing to the reader if their expectation had been a longer section.
- The segment where Candace meets Mama is placed after the section in which Phineas hypes up the Cowards, the opposite order of the movie.
- John P. Trystate's name is mistakenly written as "John P. Tri-State" in Chapter 20.
- Mama's reappearance at Feebla-Oot after a successful shot of the Chicken-Replace-inator to her ultimate destruction by a space elephant is utilized as the epilogue of the tale.
- Humorous remarks by the author are sprinkled in throughout the story:
- Next to an account of Perry exiting the headquarters by "blasting out of his lair on his chair", the comment "Hey, that rhymed!" is inserted in parenthesis.
- At multiple points, the Galactic-Travel-inator is referred to variously as "spaceship-that-wasn't-a-spaceship", "ship-or-whatever-it-was", "it's-obviously-a-spaceship", and "ship (it's definitely a ship)".
- Subsequently to Baljeet's first idea, it is recounted as "just like the USS Minotaur in episode whatever of Space Adventure".
- As the ship balances amongst the asteroids, a note is included reading "presumably Agent P, who was still hiding [was also tossed about the cabin]".
- Once Doofenshmirtz slams into a stone wall, an addendum is incorporated transcribed as "Psssst! The stone wall was the alien fortress."
- When the group enters the television set, a record is inserted for Buford with "(why did he have a canoe?)", and Doofenshmirtz is referred to as "some guy with a really long nose".
- Framing the gang's journey on the jungle, there is a short reflection on the Cowards' status; "Well, is 'friends' the right word? In the spirit of intergalactic amity, let's call them friends."
Differences between the book and the movie[]
- Cut sequence: The "Such a Beautiful Day" segment in the beginning is skipped, going straight to Candace attempting to bust Phineas and Ferb.
- Shortened line: Linda's inquiry to Candace, "I almost hesitate to ask, but what is it this time?", is abbreviated to just the latter bit.
- Missing line: Doofenshmirtz's declaration to Perry within their early scuffle, "Finally! We are evenly matched!", is completely dropped.
- Shortened sequence: Candace's incredulous babble to her Mom while being admonished for the busting attempt is abridged to a quick talk.
- Cut sequence: The gang exiting the backyard as they look back to their time riding the invention is left out.
- Cut sequence: Major Monogram congratulating Perry through the watch for a job well done and allowing the platypus to rest for the day is erased.
- Missing line: Vanessa's worried question to a dispirited Candace, "What's wrong?", is deleted.
- Cut sequence: The "The Universe is Against Me" part is jumped over, leaving Vanessa to counsel a distressed Candace solely through conversation.
- Missing line: Vanessa's anticlimactic therapy finishing sentence, "And breakthrough over", is eliminated.
- Missing line: Candace's exclamation towards the space pod, "Is that what you're [Phineas and Ferb] doing today?! Makin' big waffles?!", is cut.
- Missing lines: Vanessa's expressions relating to her and Candace being sucked by the galactic machine are omitted.
- Missing line: Candace's shouting to the boys whilst winding up rocketed into space, "Phineas! Ferb! There are no waffles in here!", is wholly dropped.

- Cut sequence: Baljeet chanting the theme song to Space Adventure is skipped.
- Shortened line: Phineas' request for his friends to be careful if they wish to accompany him and Ferb, "Ferb and I appreciate your help building the portal, but we can't ask you to go", is condensed into "Ferb and I can't ask you to go".
- Missing line: The group's enthusiastic yell of their adventurous spirit, "For Candace!", is eliminated.
- Cut sequence: Baljeet's scared endeavor to sacrifice Buford to Norm upon arriving at Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated is excluded.
