"Okay, gang, Ferb and I made these Ninja Outfits using smart garment technology. Once they're switched on, the outfits are designed to hide the wearer from anyone who's not wearing the suit." — Phineas[src] |
The Ninja Outfits are technological garments designed by Phineas and Ferb for the purpose of seizing a silent day together with their friends.
History[]
The gang is running away from a garbage monster in a form of roleplay inside the Flynn-Fletcher household. Interpreting the enemy, Buford trips on a loose lamp wire, knocking it over loudly enough for Candace and Linda to hear it from the adjacent room. Desiring to concentrate on a knitting test, the mother indicates her daughter as the silence mediator, letting her inform the kids of the need for a quiet environment. Hearing that, the bully is reminded of a ninja, giving the boys an idea.
Some time later, Phineas and Ferb showcase developed outfits, providing a brief explanation of the functionality, to Candace's qualm. She is offered to join their endeavor, but declines to continue monitoring them from afar. Turning on their suits, the group automatically evades her sight, instantly proving the technology's effectiveness. Frustrated, she heads into the house, where she senses her siblings' presences, though she is unable to catch them without the attire.
Now wearing her suit, Candace can see the disguised friend group. Blinded by the compulsion of busting, she rushes toward her parent's room to demonstrate the proof of Phineas and Ferb's doings, forgetting that the clothes cannot be seen by other people. She soon removes it on a whim, only for it to bounce out of her hands. Outside, the kids go through the discarding procedure, shutting down their suits, which conceal themselves from the perception of an unsuspecting adult ("Quietest Day Ever").
Design[]
The Ninja Outfits are black garbs with stripes representing a shirt, a sash, two three-segment armbands, a two-segment waistband, shorts, two three-segment lower legbands, and two sandals. Custom tailored to the wearers, they have eye and hand openings, with the rest of the body fully covered, incorporating a person's shape and accessories accordingly.
Mechanics[]
The Ninja Outfits are special suits imbued with smart technology. They are capable of detecting a regular individual's eyesight, spontaneously hiding themselves from view in an artistic manner reminiscent of ninjas. Circumventing autonomy, a chest button can be pressed to switch them on and off, serving as a disposal method.
Background Information[]
- In actuality, it is unlikely that ninjas were clad in black garbs, with the color probably appearing in early drawings to convey the invisibility aesthetic.
- Phineas and Ferb's original idea for the day had been to improve a robot suit, used to play an attack game entitled "Garbage-zilla", a parody of the monster Godzilla.
- Candace's wording that inspires the gang is "silent and invisible", terms characteristically associated with ninjas.
- At first, Candace mistakes the clothes for pajamas, leading her to briefly believe that a "noise party" is being hosted by the boys.
- Buford states that black suits are slimming, a belief held by many people on the basis of the coloring toning down the general visuals.
- Each outfit has a different outline hue to match the wearer's signature look:
- Phineas: Orange
- Ferb: Green
- Isabella: Pink
- Baljeet: Blue
- Buford: Gray
- Candace: Red
- Once they vanish from Candace, Buford wonders which side Phineas is facing, to which the latter moves his eyeballs to indicate left. This exchange is a play on the triangle shape of the creative boy's head, coupled with only his eyes staying visible.
- Perceiving inconspicuous motion, Candace ascribes the feeling to her busting sense, alluding to Spider-Man's spider-sense.
- When the kids elude the teenager in the living room, a ninja-esque music cue can be heard in the background.
- While putting on her suit, Candace chants, in a singsone tone, "come out, come out, wherever you are", a line often employed for dramatic effect in chasing contexts.
- Below is a list of the hiding spots taken via the outfits:

- Ultimately, Candace ends up making more noise than the kids, contrary to her promise to Linda.
