"Why yes, yes it is [a Nedlington Nymph]! Jeremy, you have your license, don't you? You can take Candace for a ride in it when it's finished." — Lawrence[src] |
The Nedlington Nymph is a sports car restored by Phineas and Ferb for Candace and Jeremy's leisure at the Doo Wop Hop.
History[]
Candace enters her house with Jeremy. Met with an oddly-dressed Linda, Candace wonders why she can't have a car, which her mother responds is due to only having a permit. Remembering about the Doo Wop Hop, the couple is greeted by Phineas and Ferb, who are going to the event. Lawrence, in the garage, questions the whereabouts of his welder, piquing everyone's curiosity on his project. Thanks to a slip-up, the kids learn that he has a surprise for his daughter.
Lawrence reveals to Candace that he has been fixing his old car, though it is not ready yet. Finding it cool, the boys decide to undertake its repairs, with Ferb providing a new model as a base. An accidental explosion causes their sleeping father to roll away, moving them to start the plan before other incidents happen. Meanwhile, Jeremy comes to pick up his girlfriend on a bike, since his car has broken down. The two walk into the garage to get Candace's bicycle, stumbling upon a restored vehicle, much to their amazement.
True to their dad's word, Phineas hands them the keys so that they can enjoy it. Beginning the ride, the boys demonstrate some of the car's features, further impressing the couple. The brothers leave via parachute to let Candace and Jeremy be by themselves, flourishing the romance in the classy atmosphere. Arriving at the event, the renewed vehicle astounds the public, winning it a contest as Lawrence wakes up from under it. Delighted, Candace gives her siblings the trophy as thanks ("My Sweet Ride").

Background Information[]
- The Nedlington Nymph is likely a reference to the Daimler SP250, having a similar style to the British car manufactured between 1959 and 1964.
- The name of the vehicle is a combination of its supposed builder, "Nedlington", and the word "Nymph", a synonym for "attractive". The former word is likely an alliterative modification of "Bedlington", an English town known for its terrier breed.
- According to Lawrence, the Nedlington Nymph is the car he had when he was a lad. Considering his rough age and the summer's time frame, it can be inferred that the vehicle is likely from the 1970s, fitting the retro theme of the day.
- Originally, the car had a grey monochrome painting and four-holed dark grey wheels.
- The explosion in the garage is caused by a test of the rocket engine, which flies out before blowing up.
- Candace remarks that it would be ironic to show up in the classic car show while riding bikes, referring to the technicality of bicycles being a more traditional mean of transport.
- Presenting the restored automobile, Phineas plays a fanfare on a bugle, a brass instrument famous for its various calls.
- The car key for the Nedling Nymph features a Ducky Momo keychain, appropriate for its future owner.
- When the boys show the rocket engine, Jeremy motions for them not to activate it, as despite how cool it appears to be, it is against the law to drive at dangerously high speeds.
- Once Candace and Jeremy arrive at the car show, she walks out of the car by taking a mechanical hand. This is an allusion to the customary manner of a man helping a lady exit a vehicle.
- Receiving the award from Candace, Phineas comments on Ferb being correct about the need for a case in the car.
