Phineas and Ferb Wiki

"Sure, they can link up in virtually infinite configurations to make just about anything you can imagine."
Phineas[src]

The Nanobot Programmer is a nanobot configurator built by Phineas and Ferb to have some creativity fun with their friends.

History[]

Isabella, Baljeet, and Buford arrive at the Flynn-Fletcher garage to check what the boys are doing. Upon seeing the glowing substance, Isabella motions to the microscope to find out its actual form, a bunch of nanobots. As a demonstration of their potential, Phineas and Ferb replicate a certain scene, impressing the others into requesting different configurations for the robots.

The kids gather a bucket of bots to play with their possible formats. Noticing this, Candace takes the chance to grab the mini helicopter to show her mother, who assumes that the boys are making models. Wanting to convince her parent, Candace sets out to uncover more about her brothers' invention, all the while they continue to shape the nanobots into several objects. With her notes full, she brings her discoveries to Linda, only to be ridiculed for the absurdity of it all.

Persisting, Candace witnesses the kids playing with bot vehicles outside the garage, and decides to follow them around for the time being. Meanwhile, Perry steals the programmer to stop a terrorist robot, defeating it by forcing its squirrel power source to come out. At the house, Candace calls her mom to showcase the now stationed cars, but the squirrel deactivates the control left by Perry before Linda can see them ("Norm Unleashed").

Design[]

The Nanobot Programmer is a phone-like controller with a keyboard in its lower half, a rectangular black switch containing a green button in the center, and a screen in its upper half. The nanobots themselves are cube-shaped yellow machines with three pieces emulating eyes and a mouth, and connector poles in each side.

Mechanics[]

The Nanobot Programmer allows the user to insert requests of forms for the nanobots to take. Upon being activated, it has to be aimed towards a group of bots, which use their contractible side parts to connect themselves in the desired shape.

Background Information[]

  • Buford's initial guess of the boys' project is a sawdust machine, due to the similarities between the waste product and the puddle of bots.
  • According to Phineas, the number of possible configurations for the nanobots is virtually infinite, given that they can take any form one can imagine.
  • The title sequence is mentioned by Buford upon seeing Phineas and Ferb's recreation of one of its scenes.

  • Isabella, Baljeet, and Buford's first requests for the nanobots are a giant birthday paddle, a telescope, a cheese grater, and a scratching post.
  • The keyboard of the programmer contains the following keys in a 5x5 grid displayed to the right. The first row is a reference to the QWERTY layout for Latin-scripted keyboards.
  • The items formed by the nanobots are:
  • "HELLO"
  • "WHERE'S PERRY?"
  • Car
  • Helicopter
  • Faucet
  • Gingerbread man
  • Gingerbread thumbs up
  • Light bulb
  • Rowboat
  • Baseball cap
  • Pig head
  • Hot rods
  • Airplanes
  • UFO
  • Horse's back
  • U-shaped pipe
  • Baseball bat
  • Acorn
  • Candace states to her mother that the nanobots had also turned into a giant tape dispenser, it likely being an off-screen transformation.
