A long time ago in a studio in Burbank, California, a ragtag group of animators made a fake trailer for a Meap sequel they never intended to make. Unfortunately, everyone wanted to see that episode so the animators were forced to write it and incorporate all these seemingly unrelated scenes. I guess the joke was on them. We now present.... Meapless in Seattle.

— Narrator

In the second installment in the Meap duology, Meap returns to save Phineas and Ferb from his nemesis Mitch, whose real mission is to take control of all of alien-kind, putting Meap's world in danger. The boys' "cute-tracker" leads the gang to Seattle and an adventure to save the universe. Meanwhile, Dr. Doofenshmirtz decides to revisit his former nemesis, Peter the Panda, but when Perry shows up, Dr. Doofenshmirtz finds that he has some explaining to do.

Episode Summary

Mitch's ship is chasing Meap's ship. Meap weaves in and out of an asteroid belt and crashes into one, which leads him plummeting towards Earth. Candace is departing to go to the mall with Stacy. Candace realizes that she could bust Phineas, Ferb, and herself in a "sacrificial bust". She tells Linda, who is taking French lessons on tape, that she's going outside with Phineas and Ferb, and Linda tells her to take out the garbage. She goes to the backyard to find Phineas and Ferb fighting with giant pillows.

Perry, now in his lair, is told by Major Monogram to go to Seattle and find Doofenshmirtz. Major Monogram's back goes out, and Carl cracks it back into place. Major Monogram tells Perry he is going to spray his hat with a waterproofing covering, and that his big screen's glass is now indestructible. Perry is instructed to throw the chair at the screen to test it, breaking the chair in the process.

In the backyard, a silhouette is seen of a giant foot about to crush Phineas and Ferb. Suddenly, Meap shows up and tells everyone to run. As Isabella arrives, Phineas grabs her and everyone escapes on Meap's ship along with Candace. In the process, Meap loses his translation mustache and Mitch picks it up. Meap explains, using an emergency translation mustache, that on his home planet, cuteness is valued above all.

A long time ago, an alien named Zachariah Yore found a vein of pure cutonium, an element that is a physical form of cuteness, and used it to make himself the cutest thing in the universe, thus gaining power over all, but since absolute cuteness corrupts absolutely, he became an evil dictator and was defeated after a long war, and was drained of all his cutonium cuteness. The cutonium, due to it being too dangerous to use, was put in a capsule and launched into space. A trail emitting from the cutonium leading to Earth was discovered a week ago. Phineas and Ferb decide to help Meap by building another Cute-Tracker to track down the cutonium.

After receiving a glare from Isabella, Phineas tells her that the tracker will ignore her cuteness as well as Meap's. Meap tells the kids that Mitch has followed the cutonium to Earth in search of it. They use the cute-tracker and locate the cutonium, which is somewhere in Seattle. They start digging on a construction site, and Candace decides to record everything on her cell phone to show as evidence to her mom later.

Perry tracks Doofenshmirtz into a coffee shop which Doofenshmirtz quickly tries to escape from. To both their surprises, Peter the Panda walks up to them with two cups of coffee. Doofenshmirtz tells Perry that the second cup is not for him, claiming that he is holding his own coffee, and grabs the urn of cutonium that he accidentally finds. Doofenshmirtz drinks it and turns into a cuter version of himself. Mitch finds him and Doofenshmirtz recognizes him from the time he found Balloony on his space station. Mitch then kidnaps him to extract the cuteness from him and orders his robots to destroy Perry and Peter.

The kids learn that Mitch found the cutonium. They grab Doofenshmirtz and escape with him while Mitch goes after them. Mitch uses the tractor beam to catch them, causing Meap and Doofenshmirtz to fall off the ship. Meap falls on the Seattle Space Needle, knocking off his translator mustache, while Doofenshmirtz is saved by Peter and Perry. Mitch catches Doofenshmirtz again and Peter and Perry go off to rescue him in Peter's spaceship. Meap explains to the kids that Mitch is going to his home planet, and contacts the rest of his species in order to warn them of the situation.

Peter and Perry follow Mitch to his planet and infiltrate Mitch's lair to rescue Doofenshmirtz. Meap gives the kids some armor to play it safe. Mitch puts Doofenshmirtz in the extraction chamber to be drained of his cuteness. After the extraction, Perry and Peter rescue him and run as the rest of Mitch's robots are alerted and give chase.

The Meapian army then attempts to break into Mitch's base while Mitch is confronted by Meap and the gang. Mitch reveals himself to be as small as Meap, wearing a mechanical suit that can act on its own. He emerges from the suit and commands it to find the gang, which it has trouble doing. Mitch shoots himself with a beam of cutonium, turning him into a being of irresistible cuteness. Meap warns them not to look at Mitch, but Phineas gets stunned by Mitch's looks.

The robots are swarming Doofenshmirtz. He meets Balloony, who is now in an armored suit and has energy axes that he uses to attack Doofenshmirtz. The Meapian army then breaks in and is stunned by Mitch's looks. Meap fights Mitch while unaffected by Mitch's looks, because he looks at him via a mirror. Mitch's robot body arrives at the platform the gang is on and chases them around it. Doofenshmirtz tries to tell Balloony about their times together. Balloony remembers and protects him, but gets popped in the process.

EpicIsabella

"Hey, Mitch!"

Mitch defeats Meap by making Meap look at him. Isabella manages to snap Phineas out of his cuteness trance. Phineas explains that this is because Isabella's cuteness goes right down to her core. He motivates her to go to the platform where Meap and Mitch are battling. Isabella out-cutes Mitch and he reverts to his natural state, and the cutonium is destroyed in the process. As Mitch tries to escape, Candace throws her cell phone to hit a button, closing the door that he is about to go through and trapping him, but destroying the phone in the process. Now in the custody of the Meapians, Mitch is taken away to have a timeout, and Meap regains his original translation mustache.

Meap brings the kids back home. Mitch's ship is towed away and Meap says his goodbyes and thanks them for their help. Candace gets busted by Linda for not taking out the garbage. At Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated, Doofenshmirtz is depressed after what happened to Balloony, but Perry gives him a repaired Balloony with a patched hole.

Running Gags

I know what we're gonna do today

Candace: Okay Phineas and Ferb, what are we going to do- (She gets squashed in between two giant pillows, dropping the garbage bag) today?

The "Too Young" Line

(In the opening trailer)
Mitch: Are you little young to save the universe?
Phineas: Yes, yes I am.
Candace: I don't know, Phineas, that door looks pretty solid. Are you going to try to hack the lock mechanism or crack the code sequence?
Phineas: Yes, yes I am. I think the sequence is "push the big red button."

Ferb's Line

Isabella: How will we know when we get to Seattle?

(Meap's ship passes a "Welcome to Seattle" signpost and enters a rainy, overcast area.)

Ferb: We're here.

What'cha doin'?

Isabella: Hey Phineas...
(Isabella's theme music stops and a record scratch is heard. Phineas grabs Isabella and runs)
Phineas: Run!
Isabella: Hey, Mitch! (Mitch turns around. Isabella also turns around is surrounded with a flashing pink aura.) What'cha doin'? (echoes)

Where's Perry?

Phineas: You know who else would love this?
Candace: Yeah, yeah, yeah, do that. Say "Where's Perry?"
Phineas: Well, I was going to say Buford, but where is Perry?
Linda: Candace, I thought I told you to take the garbage out. You are so busted, young lady.
Candace: Of...course I am.
Phineas: Hey, where's Perry?

Oh, there you are, Perry

None.

Perry's entrance to his lair

None.

Memorable Quotes

Stacy: Yeah, I guess if you're going to have an unhealthy mind frame, it might as well benefit me. Now, the mall is waiting!
Candace: I mean if I did half the things they do, I'd get so... busted.
Stacy: (Stacy opens the Flynn-Fletcher's front door) Uh-oh. I just lost you, didn't I?
Candace: Stacy! If I do what Phineas and Ferb were doing, I will get busted and them along with me! It's a sacrificial bust!
Stacy: I almost got you...
Candace: I can take the hit-
Stacy: ...out the door...
Candace: -but they'll never see it coming!
Stacy: ...to the mall.
Candace: Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Phineas: Wow, cool ship. Is that yours?
Meap: Meap!
Phineas: Say what now?
Meap:(Meap puts on the universal translation mustache and clears his throat.) RUN!
French Audio Teacher: The spaceship is right behind you. Le vaisseau spatial est juste derrière vous.
Phineas: Hey look, there's Mom!
French Audio Teacher: Your children are climbing in the spaceship now.
Phineas: Hi Mom!
French Audio Teacher: Vos enfants sont à la hausse dans le vaisseau spatial aujourd'hui.
Phineas: We're going to outer space!
French Audio Teacher: Oh for the love of, would you turn around?
Phineas: See ya!
French Audio Teacher: Oh pour l'amour de, serait que vous tournez autour?
Linda: Well when is that ever going to come up in conversation?
Meap's spaceship's computer: Autopilot engage.
Meap pushes the emergency translation mustache button
Meap's spaceship's computer: Emergency translation mustache activated.
Meap:(With a southern accent.) I beg your pardon for the hustle and bustle kids, it's just that my planet needs your help!
Phineas: No problem, Ferb and I can build another cute-tracker with these parts. (Ferb goes through the box of parts.) Of course, this time, we have to adjust the setting to ignore Meap's cuteness.
(Screen pans right and Isabella is shown frowning.)
Phineas: Oh, and yours too, Isabella!
Isabella: I don't need your charity.
Candace: (Into cell phone) Mom, look! I'm in mortal danger! (Points phone toward Ferb) Say hi, Ferb.
Meap: Well, my little friend, it looks like we're about to fall into our untimely demise.
Dr. Doofenshmirtz: Yeah, speak for yourself! I'm gonna try and land on you, so you'll break my fall!
Meap: My word, we've been fallin' for a long time!
Doofenshmirtz: Oh, a joke about the commercial break, yeah, that's how I want to spend my last few seconds!
Phineas: Big Mitch grabbed the Cutonium. Do you know where's he's going?
Meap: Meap. (Meap breaking the glass of the back up emergency translation mustache and putting it on and then spoke in a British accent.) He's heading back to my home planet! I must warn them! Red alert! Red alert! Mitch has the Cutonium and he's on his way there. You must rally the troops and head him off at the evil fortress, this is war.
Meapian Female Operator: (Confused) Meap?
Meap: Oops, pardon, forgot I have this silly thing on.(Takes off the back up emergency translation mustache.) Meap!
Meapian Female Operator: (Gasp) Meap.
Isabella: Meap, why are you taking the mirrors?
Meap: Better safe than sorry.
Isabella:(Confused) Okay...
Meap: Hold it right there Mitch!
Mitch: Meap! How'd you get here?
Meap: With the help of Team Phineas!
Candace: I never agreed to that name.
Phineas: Aww, look at the little guy. What's the fastest way I can transfer all my assets into his name?.
Phineas: Aww, they're blasting away at each other with really cute death rays.
Phineas: Is... Isabella. Hey wait a minute, Isabella we had the secret cute weapon all this time. You!
Isabella: Me?
Phineas: Don't you see, you can take him. He's only cute on the outside, but your cuteness goes right to your core.
Isabella: So what you saying is; you think I'm cute?
Phineas: It's a scientific fact.(Picking up the Cute-tracker 2.0) I had to put an 8000 Ohm resistor in the cute-tracker just to keep you from burning it out.
(Long pause, than Phineas fidget and pushing buttons on the Cute-tracker 2.0)
Isabella:(Slightly frustrated) Close enough. I'm on it!
Meap: Good work, Candace. He's going to get a serious time out now. Fifteen... sixteen minutes.
Meap: Friends, I can never thank you enough for helping me save my planet.
Phineas: Our pleasure, and I think we all learned a valuable lesson today- but we all know what it is, so why waste our time restating it?

Background Information

  • Originally, the episode stated at the end of "The Chronicles of Meap" was supposed to be a joke, but because of large fan speculation and demand, Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh went on to plan the episode for creation.

Errors

  • When Meap puts on his southern mustache, it is slightly orange, and later on yellow. This also occurrs to the English mustache; when he wears it, it is white, but when he and the gang go to Mitch's lair, it is slightly brown.
  • When Meap is in the crane grabbing Doofenshmirtz, he's not wearing his translator mustache, but in his spaceship he's wearing it again.
  • When Meap's southern mustache falls off, it resembles the British mustache, but colored yellow.
  • When Doofenshmirtz finds Balloony, all of Mitch's robots' eyes are gray instead of orange.
  • Before Mitch exits his suit, his left eye has a scar on it.
  • After Meap's friends fall for Mitch's cuteness, Phineas is shown with normal eyes. In the next shot, his eyes are dilated again.
  • When Isabella tries to get Phineas' attention while looking through her mirror, she is shown with no visor on. Afterwards, she removes her visor to get Phineas out of his cute trance.
5 fingered Izzie

Isabella has an extra finger

  • When Isabella snaps Phineas out of his cute trance, her boots are light pink, but when she grabs onto the rope, her boots are orange.
  • When Isabella is swinging down to save Meap from Mitch, she is wearing her normal shoes instead of the red boots.
  • When Isabella is going to swing down to save Meap, her eyes turn white for a single frame.
  • When Isabella lands after swinging down from the rope, she has five fingers instead of four.
  • After Phineas and Ferb slide down the ropes, their ropes disappear when the camera cuts to Candace coming down her rope.
  • When Perry and Peter are trapped by the robots, Peter's pupils are gone.
  • When Meap thanks the gang, Candace's hair is in front of her chest.
  • In the credits, Dee Bradley Baker is absent.

Continuity

Allusions

  • Sleepless in Seattle - The episode's title parodies the title of the 1993 romantic comedy film.
  • Meet Me in St. Louis - The title of the next episode in the Meap saga, "Meap Me in St. Louis", is a parody of the title of the 1944 Christmas musical film.
  • Star Wars - The scrolling exposition that starts the episode is a reference to the opening crawls from Star Wars. Doofenshmirtz's line "This is some rescue!" is a line said by Princess Leia in Episode IV.
  • Battlestar Galactica - The phrase "Ragtag group of animators" alludes to Commander Adama's narration of "A ragtag fugitive fleet" from the original series.
  • Burbank, California - During the scrolling exposition, the location of the Walt Disney Company headquarters and studio productions is mentioned.
  • Greek mythology - The usage of mirrors is a reference to Perseus battling Medusa by only looking at her reflection in his shield so as to not be affected by her power.
  • John Dalberg-Acton - Meap mentioning that absolute cuteness corrupts absolutely is a take on Acton's famous quote "Power tends to corrupt; and absolute power corrupts absolutely".
  • Droste effect - Ferb holds a vase containing a picture of himself on it, which contains a smaller picture of himself, and so forth. This is an effect in which a picture recursively appears within itself.
  • Space Needle/Gateway Arch - Meap appears on top of these two famous structures located in Seattle and St. Louis, respectively.

Trivia

Differences from the fake trailer

  • In the trailer, when Balloony enters, Doofenshmirtz says "Balloony!" and Mitch says "Colin!". In the episode, Mitch is not with Doofenshmirtz when he and Balloony reunite.
  • A new scene shows Meap and Suzy fighting each other in the Bango-Ru convention.
  • The scene with Candace saying "What? Jeremy is going to be there?" is revamped.
  • Mitch doesn't say "Aren't you a little young to save the universe?".
  • In the trailer, Monogram says "I want your hat on my desk", Carl does his arm pointing, and Perry throws his chair to the screen, which is implied to be immediately afterwards. In the episode, both scenes are separated.
  • When Mitch laughs at the beginning of the fake trailer, the background is different.
