"I say, boys, you can barely feel the road! It corners like a dream! Pinhead Pierre, eat your heart out!" — Lawrence[src] |
The Magic Carpet is a transportation rug devised by Phineas and Ferb for their father to relive his childhood adventures in a modern manner.
History[]
Lawrence invites his sons to watch a remastered version of his favorite program, The Pinhead Pierre Show!. In it, the titular presenter instructs the viewers to grab their licensed rugs for a ride, revitalizing the parent's child spirit. The flight emulation is cut short when his wife asks him a favor to re-do the living room's tiles, leaving Phineas and Ferb to carry on with the show. Wanting to lift their father's mood, the boys set out to prepare a real experience.
Some time later, Lawrence comes back to the living room, where his sons induce him to take a seat next to them. Following a quick setup of the technology, the trio is raised out of the house via the roof, kicking off a nostalgic voyage throughout the city skyline. Gathering their friends, the group shares unforgettable moments during the trip, crossing the horizon whilst enjoying themselves, and classic Pinhead Pierre series.
Meanwhile, Candace approaches home after a bizarre sequence of fortune cookie events relating to her ultimate pursuit of busting her brothers. Noticing the flying rug, she rushes to the kitchen to pick up her mother, who brushes off the literal garbage look to get the routine over with. The boys' carpet lands in the living room, dying the flooring in a purple color thanks to a sticky stain ball, much to Linda's pleasure. As the kids and parents leave to celebrate, the teenager learns a lesson in skepticism ("Magic Carpet Ride").
Design[]
The Magic Carpet is a rug comprising the living room's beige covering, the burgundy central piece with a dark yellow outline; an olive middle square, the yellow sofa, and the gray television. Its simplistic base design is an essential factor in its maneuver options, which involve dislocating a part for right angle turns.
Mechanics[]
The Magic Carpet is an aerodinamically-infused structure composed of three layers; a top voice ignition system, a middle micro-filament omnidirectional jet grid, and bottom anti-gravity quantum-state lift dics. These confer its properties, namely boundless movement, lift resistance, and soft coating.
Background Information[]
- The overall theme of a magic carpet ride, along with its respective song, is an allusion to the Aladdin franchise, more specifically the The Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride at various Disney theme parks.
- According to Lawrence, the magic word for the Pinhead Pierre carpet ride is streptococcus, the genus of spherical bacteria responsible for strep throat.
- In the imaginative television trip, Pinhead Pierre flies over Paris, pointing out the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, and the off-placed Colosseum of Rome.
- The designs for the three layers of the Magic Carpet each resemble a feature of theirs; the top is alike the actual rug, the middle is a blue grid based on its function, and the bottom is reminiscent of a microchip with three discs alluding to the quantum nature of the inserted objects.
- From the activation scene, it can be visualized that the procedure is carried out with the use of white game controllers.
- Upon exiting through the roof, Lawrence wonders if it had been always that flexible; the boys confirm it, remarking that it is not used much.
- Before getting aboard, Isabella had been bird watching atop a tree, and Buford had been testing Baljeet as fishing bait at a pier.
- During the flight, the passengers strike flying poses, lay down to appreciate the view, pass by an airplane, hang their feet out of the carpet, go above the clouds, observe a trajectory lecture by Baljeet, and watch Pinhead Pierre while eating wind-pushed popcorn.
- Ferb asks who would also like to be king of the world while standing on top of the television with his arms outstretched. This is a reference to the iconic "King of the World" scene from Titanic.
- Expressing her satisfaction, Linda states that she thought Lawrence would just sit in front of the television all day, which he notes is actually what transpired, only to be dismissed as a joke.
