“ | This is a situation the Fireside Girls have never had to deal with. | ” |
— Isabella Garcia-Shapiro |
With the Annual Fireside Cupcake Jamboree looming, Isabella finds herself chairing a troop meeting when their founder and overall leader Ms Feyersied is unable to attend. However, things soon take a turn for the violent, over a simple choice - vanilla or red velvet? Meanwhile, Perry and Doofenshmirtz head out to renew their business licenses for O.W.C.A and Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated respectively.
Episode Summary[]
In the Fireside Girl Lodge, Isabella leads a Fireside Girls meeting to determine what cupcake flavor to bring for the Annual Fireside Cupcake Jamboree since Ms. Feyersied cannot make it.
Meanwhile, in Perry's lair, he is seen practicing ping-pong before Monogram suddenly interrupts him. Monogram announces that both Doofenshmirtz's business license and O.W.C.A.'s license have expired, and that Doofenshmirtz intends to renew his license. Monogram orders Perry to help Doofenshmirtz in renewing his business license, as well as renewing O.W.C.A's license, to ensure that they continue their battles in the proper fashion without paying fees.
Back in the lodge, Isabella decides to make a vote between the vanilla or red velvet cupcakes. Initially, all seems to be fine with the girls starting to vote for vanilla, until Gretchen interrupts the vote to say that she prefers red velvet, followed by some other girls, leading to a clash between the two votes. As a result, Isabella attempts to redo the vote again, only to end up in a stalemate once again, and Gretchen insists on keeping the split votes, to which Isabella is shocked that this condition has never happened before between the Fireside Girls.
As Perry arrives at Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated, Doofenshmirtz says that he is going to the Danville Embassy for Evil to renew his evil business license and asks Perry to come along with him. Doofenshmirtz then sees a pigeon perching on top of his inator on his balcony, and then he drives it away while Perry notices a shark trap, which Doofenshmirtz first intended to use to trap Perry but couldn't do so without paying a fine.
The Fireside Girls reach an impasse over whether to bring vanilla or red velvet cupcakes, and they descend into chaotic disarray. Meanwhile Doof struggles through an evil assessment while Perry renews O.W.C.A.'s license.
As the chaos ensues, Isabella attempts to keep her cool as she admits that she is tempted to join in on the chaos, but then the girls go crazy and Gretchen damages the Fireside Girls manual by impaling it. Fed up and enraged, Isabella angrily picks up a cupcake-geared spear to strike at Gretchen, with the two charging at each other.
After Doofenshmirtz returns home following his license renewal, he is surprised that the same bird earlier accidentally activated his Un-cooperate-inator. He angrily drives away the bird and turns off the inator and notices that a small building the inator is facing might get fired by it, hoping that nothing bad will happen.
As the inator switches off, the girls stop quarreling and return to their sanity, including Isabella, who calms down. The girls then clean up all of the mess and, finally thinking with clear minds, decide on red velvet cupcakes with vanilla frosting for the Cupcake Jamboree. The girls are relieved that the chaos has ended, unaware that Melissa is still feral due to the inator's effects.

Errors[]
- Gretchen imbues her spear with fire and throws it towards the Fireside Girl Manual book and pierces it until it reaches the wall, yet when the book gets impaled, the book doesn't get burned, as there is no sign of fire anymore on the tip of the spear.
- In this episode, the Fireside Girl Lodge is seen in a straight line with Doofenshmirtz's balcony, but in past episodes, such as "Night of the Living Pharmacists", the lodge was facing towards the different side of the DEI building.
- Melissa’s beret appears and disappears through out the episode.
- In the episode "Fireside Girl Jamboree" Eliza M. Feyerseid sits at a picture frame shaped window but in this episode she is in a real photograph. Is possible that a real photograph of her was eventually put in its place.
Continuity[]
Allusions[]
- Lord of the Flies - The episode title and events is a reference to the 1954 William Golding novel, which has been adapted to several movies and TV specials.
- Raiders of the Lost Ark - One of Doof's evil tests mimics Indy's mission at the start of the film, where he replaces an idol with a sandbag of the exact same weight. This scene, including the subsequent boulder escape, has been parodied numerous times in popular culture.
- Talking Stick - At one point during the meeting, Isabella mentions that only the one holding the Fireside Girls' training manual should be the one speaking. This could reference the custom of the 'talking stick', a custom practiced by some indigenous communities of Pacific Northwest North America, but more likely references the concept of the pink conch shell from ‘The Lord of the Flies’
- Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy - One of the lyrics in "Watch It Burn" is "this escalated in less than an hour", a reference to Will Ferrell's line "Well, that escalated quickly" in this film, which became a viral meme.
Trivia[]
- This is the third episode to heavily focus on the Fireside Girls ("Isabella and the Temple of Sap", "Bee Story").
- This is the first Fireside Girls episode not to have a Poofenplotz and Pinky subplot, and this is also the first episode to focus on the Fireside Girls without being a spin-off episode of Phineas and Ferb's perspectives.
- Cloris Leachman, the original voice of Eliza M. Feyersied, passed away in 2021. As a result, she does not physically appear in the episode and was mentioned as not feeling well.
- Her picture still appears on the wall, and no longer seems to be a window into her office ("Fireside Girl Jamboree").
- Phineas and Ferb only have a brief cameo.
- All of the Fireside Girls' voice actors return to reprise their roles, including Meira Blinkoff, who voiced Li'l Sparks Melissa in "We Call it Maze".
- This is the seventh time Isabella only wears her Fireside Girls outfit in the entire plot ("It's a Mud, Mud, Mud, Mud World", "Bubble Boys", "Fireside Girl Jamboree", "We Call it Maze", "Ferb TV", Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe).
- This is the third time the Fireside Girls are affected by one of Doofenshmirtz's inators ("Bee Story", "Night of the Living Pharmacists").
- This is the first episode in Season 5 in which Perry doesn't battle Doofenshmirtz, as they both are busy renewing their licenses.
- This episode reveals that Doofenshmirtz needs an evil license.
- This is the second time Isabella actually gets angry at somebody. This time, she gets mad when she sees that Gretchen impaled the Fireside Girl manual book to the wall and damaged it, which costs her the composure she has had for most of the episode. ("Phineas and Ferb: Summer Belongs to You!")
- Fifth episode that Candace doesn’t appear in. (“Bully Bromance Breakup”, “Road to Danville”, “Bee Story”, “Doof 101”).
