Candace is taking her driving test to earn her license. However, it becomes a determined attempt to bust Phineas and Ferb as they traverse across the city with their latest creation - Gecko Gear, which mimics the abilities of geckos to climb and stick to flat surfaces. Meanwhile, Doofenshmirtz's latest invention causes havoc on the roads by changing traffic lights so he will have the right of way.
Episode Summary[]
When Linda drops Candace off at the Danville Department of Motor Vehicles, Linda expresses her excitement about her daughter turning 16 and finally taking her drivers' test. After they see a failed driving student, Linda attempts to cheer Candace up and remind her that her brothers and father helped her with her parallel parking. Lawrence calls them to wish Candace luck, while at the same time, repairing Candace's bike as a safety precaution. Linda leaves for the park to leave Candace with her rather bored driving instructor, as Candace nervously gets into the drivers' seat.
In the backyard, Phineas and Ferb show the gang their latest creation, Gecko Gear, gloves and boots shaped like gecko paws to make them stick onto walls as well as springs to make them bounce. Meanwhile, Agent P is informed by Major Monogram that Doofenshmirtz has been tinkering with his car.
Back at the DMV, Candace's test gets to a rough start as she has difficulty getting her seatbelt on and she waits a while to merge into the traffic. She also drives a little too safely as she holds up traffic.
Perry meets Doof at the grocery store where he gets trapped in a shopping basket. Doof shows his latest invention, the Red-Green-Shift-inator, which will turn traffic lights from red to green and vice-versa so that he won't have to be stuck in traffic while his groceries rot in the car. As Doof starts his car, leaving Perry on the roof, Perry falls off and breaks free from his trap.
Candace sees the gang in their Gecko Gear cheering her on. She opens the glove compartment of her car and puts on her helmet and gloves and goes off on a high-speed chase to bust her brothers. When she gets to the park, she remembers that's where her mother is waiting. She picks her up and puts her in the backseat to show her what the boys are up to.
As Perry follows Doof, he becomes a citizen traffic cop, saving a pedestrian from getting run over by a truck, saving a mother duck and her ducklings, and almost saving two movers from breaking a glass pane. Finally catching up with Doof, he sees that he has become a chauffeur, carrying an pregnant woman, a magician in a water torture tank holding his breath, and an ice sculpture of a pregnant magician holding her breath. As Perry and Doof fight, the inator fires at several random red and green objects turning them the other colors, including switching the colors of Phineas and Ferb's hair.
Perry briefly allows Doof to drop off the pregnant woman at a hospital before resuming his fight with him Candace later completes the test by parallel parking, and gets out of the car to get the gang. The gang's Gecko Gear stickiness becomes less sticky causing them to fall. Fortunately, their springs prevents them from crashing. Candace meets up with the gang and is pleased to see their Gecko Gear is still there.
Suddenly, Doof's car crashes into a barrier and becomes airborne and falls onto the Gecko Gear, causing the car to bounce all over. The ice sculpture drops onto a couple's dinner date, and the magician finally makes it onto his stage to make his escape, amazing the crowd. And his groceries also fall out of his trunk. While most of the gang get lemon pops, Buford ends up with a slab of pork loin.
Candace returns with her mom just in time to see the Gecko Gear has disappeared. The driving instructor approaches them. Candace assumes that she has failed her driving test, but she actually passed. As it turns out, the driving instructor sees a kindred spirit since he also has two unbustable sisters. As the gang congratulate Candace, Linda notices Phineas and Ferb's new hair.
Candace drives everyone home complaining about her mother noticing the switched hair but not all the other big inventions they made. Lawrence comes out of the garage with Candace's bike, but when he hears that Candace passed, he slowly backs away.
