Just Squidding is the fifth 8x8 book based on Phineas and Ferb, published on January 18, 2011.
Book Summary[]
It's the opening day of the Danville Deep, the deepest lake in the Tri-State Area, and Phineas and Ferb are working on their new project, when Isabella comes to greet them. Phineas tells her that they're building a mechanical squid to explore the lake, and the trio and Perry head into adventure. Meanwhile, Jeremy invites Candace to go fishing with him, and she reluctantly agrees. In the center of the lake, Candace spots her brothers driving the squid and tries to tell her mom about it, to no avail.
The gang dives deeper into the lake, and while they are distracted observing the sea creatures, Perry leaves the group and goes to Dr. Doofenshmirtz's underwater lair. After noticing his nemesis' entrance, Heinz shows his new invention: the Aqua-Creature-Creator-inator, and tests it in a fish, trasforming it into a monster. Agent P is then thrown in the lake alongside the creature, and is able to lure it to the lair's walls, ruining Doofenshmirtz's plans.
While Phineas, Ferb and Isabella are looking at the cool things at the bottom of the lake, the monster grabs their mechanical squid. They try to maneuver the submarine away from it, with no success. Phineas then realizes that the creature just wants a friend, and decides to leave the squid with it, escaping through a escape pod. Perry reunites with the group and they reach the surface, making Candace fall from the boat only to be caught by Jeremy, swearing to catch her brothers next time.
