Journey to Mars is the tenth in a series of chapter books based on Phineas and Ferb, published on January 17, 2012.
Book Summary[]
Journey to Mars is a near word-for-word adaptation of the episodes "Unfair Science Fair" and "Unfair Science Fair Redux (Another Story)", presented as two parts of one story with three chapters each. The book makes the transition between the two parts with the simple phrase, "It all started the day before". Differences between the book and the episodes as broadcast are noted below. In general, most of the differences are that of timing, where an event is described as happening at a slightly different time (usually before) than when it happened in the episode, though some lines are missing from the episode.
Each page typically has a picture from the episode that helps the reader visualize what is being described. The picture is a halftone screenshot from the episode (taken from the wide format originals), cropped into custom shapes such as rectangles in a picture frame format. Each chapter includes a picture of a different character at the beginning of the chapter, and Perry's image appears next to each page number.

Background Information[]
- The songs are described in general terms, rather than specifics. (For example, no lyrics are transcribed)
- Baljeet's surname is incorrectly given as "Rai".
- Gimmelshtump is mistakenly written as "Gimmelshtoomp".
Differences between the book and the episodes[]
Most timing differences, where an event occurs in the book a few moments before when it does in the episode, will not be noted here.
Part One ("Unfair Science Fair")[]
- Changed lines: A few lines spoken in the style of an Indian ballad are switched to be enunciated normally, namely "I know what we're gonna do today!", "Good! With your mechanical inclinations, and my scientifical expertise, we are a team that cannot be beaten", "Where's Perry?", and "There's Perry!".
- Missing line: Baljeet lightly commenting on his emotional state upon completing the Portal to Mars with the boys, "Inside I am thanking you a thousand times, even though on the outside I remain quite frugal", is only said partially on the second part.
- Cut sequence: Doofenshmirtz stretching his legs onto the doom truck's dashboard panel to showcase them to an astonished Perry is erased.
- Shortened line: Doofenshmirtz goading a child on carrying a model of dwarf planet Pluto, "Oh, brother! What is this, a model of Pluto?", is reduced without the "Oh, brother!" bit.
- Cut sequence: Wendy's sarcastic laughter at the condimental misery of Candace during their extreme food fight is left out.
Part Two ("Unfair Science Fair Redux (Another Story)")[]
- Missing lines: Candace does not scream the names of the people she calls in desperation for some conversation, those being instead related through narration.
- Missing line: The Slushy Dawg manager yelling towards his food court competition Taco Tepee, "You win this one, Cooks with Grease!", is eliminated.
- Missing line: Baljeet crying out while his planetary teleporter short-circuits once Candace carelessly goes inside it, "Oh, no!", is deleted.
- Missing line: Doofenshmirtz gently greeting a serious Perry after the platypus barges in his building, "What's up?", is wiped.
- Shortened line: Linda simply states that the blasted crater looks like a "monkey wearing a powdered wig", not specifying it as a rhesus macaque.
