"Hey Ferb, I know what we're gonna do today! Let's build jetpacks... and play volleyball!" — Phineas[src] |
Jetpack Volleyball is a sport invented by Phineas and Ferb by mixing up volleyball with jetpacks.
History[]
Candace, trying to see if she is free to go to Jeremy's house, asks Phineas if he has any plans for the day. In doing that, she ends up inspiring the boys by mentioning "jetpack" and "volleyball", prompting them to fuse the sport with the devices. She then decides to invite her boyfriend over instead. Later, observing the gang putting on jetpacks, Candace sets out to bust them quickly so she can enjoy her day with Jeremy, only to find out that he is joining her brothers in their activity.
Desperate, Candace flips her objective to hide the boys from her mom as to not get her boyfriend in trouble. While she distracts Linda, the gang sets up the net and starts to play the flying sport. Some time after, they finish their game, all the while Linda is kept on a phone line by Candace, who goes to the backyard to check on the boys. Thanks to external interference, the equipment turns into confetti, and the ball becomes a cake, to everyone's surprise ("Sleepwalk Surprise").
Design[]
Jetpack Volleyball is a volleyball game played on the air, having a net sustained by big jetpacks placed in an arbitrary position to divide the field. Each player equips a white jetpack with a red strap, orange nose cone, grey nozzle, and blue boosters.
Mechanics[]
Jetpack Volleyball is based on aerodynamics, with the use of jetpacks permitting the players' motion through air. This technology increases the flexibility of the volley moves.
Background Information[]
- The people seen playing the game are:
- Based on the outer views of the match, the teams formed are:
- Team #1: Phineas, Ferb, Isabella, Gretchen, Katie
- Team #2: Baljeet, Buford, Jeremy, Ginger, Milly
- During the game, Irving shows up out of nowhere to sing a line of the chorus, alluding to some of his earlier appearances.
- The blue flames emitted by the jetpacks imply that they possess a higher energy level than regular yellow gas devices, since the wavelength of light is inversely proportional to its energy. This extra power explains the fast movements displayed by the players.
- Near the end of the match, the ball is knocked off by Jeremy into space, indicating that it hit the Earth's escape velocity of 6.96 mi/s (11.2 km/s).
- Phineas and Ferb retrieve the ball shortly thereafter, something that must have been done within fifteen seconds, as no human can survive longer out of orbit without a suit.
- Returning to Earth, the object's kinetic energy is converted into heat energy, causing it to look like a meteor. It subsequently hits the rest of the gang upon landing, forming a small hole.
- Impressed by Ferb's skills, Jeremy wonders where he learned how to serve. In response, Ferb snarkily remarks that it was in the "Yorkshire Athletic School of In Your Face".
