"I Have a Hat For That" is a song from the upcoming Phineas and Ferb revival season. It will be featured in "The Haberdasher", sung by the title character voiced by Emmy and Tony Award winning actor Alan Cumming.
Lyrics[]
Would you like a bowler? Would you like a fez?
A date night cap that can remember everything she says
A visor that can sniff out trouble
Boil tea and blow a bubble, I have a hat for that
Would you prefer a top hat that can shoot out flames?
A sombrero with periscope could help you with your aim
A French beret that really slays
It comes in blues and blacks and grays, I have a hat for that
A boater with a narrow brim. that sprays out gases (very grim)
A beanie with a map for the explorer
A driving cap for getaways, that navigates the motorways
But you look like a fan of the fedora
Whatever kind of headgear you've been dreaming of,
I have the latest this and that and all of the above
A topper that is prim and proper
For my number one crimestopper, I have a hat for that!
Yes, I
Have a hat
For that
Oh, but I don't do shoes, that's two doors down.

Background Information[]
- Dan Povenmire revealed himself and the crew to be working on it for the Phineas and Ferb revival on a video from his YouTube Channel. Posted on July 10, 2024.[1]
- This was first hinted by a short video from Dan Povenmire's TikTok posted on February 19, 2024, nearly 5 months before the full video about working on it was released on his YouTube Channel.[2]
- The lines "a French beret that really slays/it comes in blues and blacks and grays" were originally written as "a French beret to help you slay/an enemy that's in your way" but was changed due to Dan Povenmire finding the direct reference to murder to be "a little deathy". Both as originally written and in its final form, the line plays on the two meanings of the word "slay": its original meaning ("to kill violently, wantonly, or in great numbers") or the more modern slang meaning ("to do something or perform exceptionally well or impressively"), befitting a song about fashion.[3]
- Similarly, the colors the hat apparently comes in, specifically blue and black, can also be seen as a play on the phrase "beaten black & blue", typically used to describe someone injured so badly that they end up covered in bruises.
- This is the first song for the revival in which the lyrics for it were revealed, along with which episode it will be in.
