"I forgot that we made Buford the boss. It's a little disturbing having him trying to obliterate us, but it made him so happy."
Phineas talking about Giant Buford[src]

Giant Buford is the boss of Phineas and Ferb's adaptation of Jump N' Duck.

Biography[]

Phineas and Ferb build an immersive version of Jump N' Duck, in which players can go into the game. Candace is accidentally zapped inside it, where she is chased by birds and fruits. To help her, Phineas teaches the mechanics of the game, which consist of jumping and ducking depending on the approaching enemy. Candace ends up falling on stairs and discovering that she can shoot enemies with her hair dryer, while her brothers follow her through the virtual world.

They eventually reach the boss level. The giant Buford appears behind the boys and chases them through the stage, catching them outside the castle when they try to go in separate directions. At Candace's shouting, the boss drops the boys and walks up to her, knocking her over before she can shoot him. Cornered, she uses her health bar to hit the giant Buford, who stumbles and falls off the island, crushing Phineas and Ferb on the way. Since Candace has defeated the boss, she is able to go back into the real world with her revived brothers.

Curious, Phineas wonders if Candace defeated the boss twice, as there is a second phase. The giant Buford then reappears in the backyard, prompting everyone to run away. Buford tries to talk with the boss, only to be smashed into the ground. To defeat the giant Buford, Isabella taunts him from behind and activates the Digitizer, sucking him back into the game ("Gaming the System").

Players[]

He treats the players as opponents, fighting them as programmed by Phineas and Ferb.

Buford[]

Buford seems to like being the boss, despite being hit by his giant version.

Background Information[]

  • Giant Buford is a parody of typical platform video game bosses, which are often buff characters with two or more phases whose battle can be made easier with the right strategy.
  • Based on the amount of damage Candace takes, it can be calculated that one hit by the boss deals 68.75% of a player's health, the equivalent of eleven out of the sixteen marks in the life bar.
  • According to Phineas, Buford is happy with being the boss. It is likely that they chose him for the role due to him having the most boss-like features out of the gang's members.
  • Giant Buford's vocal effects are provided by Bobby Gaylor, who voices Buford.
