Game Smash was a sandbox activity based on Phineas and Ferb, developed by theLIFT for the Disney website in February 2008. A promotion for the series' premiere, it allowed crafting and testing roller coasters.
Gameplay[]
Visitors had the chance to build their own roller coaster by following a series of steps. To begin, a character and a cart had to be selected; the latter could be colored with the gradient. Afterwards, a 64 x 16 square grid was available to fill out with track pieces, backgrounds, and power-ups. The coaster could be tested by clicking "test track", and pressing "go" at the desired level of power. If the visitor was satisfied with their creation, they had the option to save it and publish it. Otherwise, they could continue editing it. In addition, a scene creator was accessible to construct scenarios using the coaster.[2]
Guests could create a login consisting of a username and password to register in the game. This allowed users to make an avatar, share tracks, participate in the arena, and access the trading post. Shared designs were able to be rated, enabling guests to raise their rank and class in order to get into the smash board by getting high scores in their creations. By obtaining Game Smash (GS) points, more items could be purchased. There were a few exclusive items not shown in the regular selection screens, likely to be earned via class rank-ups.[3]

Background Information[]
- The game is heavily inspired by the series' pilot episode, taking many elements from it in its design.
- The game's menus each have a different background; the title screen is in the front yard of the Flynn-Fletcher house, the track builder is in the O.W.C.A. headquarters, the Game Smashers menu is in town, the Arena is in Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated, and the user profile is in Googolplex Mall.
- In the character select screen, Milly is referred to as "Fire Girl" instead of Fireside Girl, Buford's name is spelled with two "f"s, Astronaut Phineas' name is misspelled as "Phineus", Doofenshmirtz's name is misspelled as "Doofnsmrtz", and the letter "i" is in lowercase instead of uppercase. The latter two oddities are likely the consequences of technical limitations.
- Strangely, Snowboarder Candace is playable, but not regular Candace.
- More than one account could be registered with the same e-mail address. When recovering a forgotten username and/or password, details from all accounts associated with the e-mail would be sent.
- If "build track" is clicked instead of "go to the next step", the sprite used in the grid is Phineas' regardless of the character selected.
- If the visitor exits a track test in the middle of it, the "Phineas and Ferb Theme" continues to play in the background no matter which menu is accessed.
- Several voice lines could be heard in the game:
- "So, Ferb, what do you wanna do today?" by Phineas, from "Rollercoaster" (main menu)
- "We're gonna build the Coolest Coaster Ever today!" by Phineas (unique line; main menu and track grid)
- "Don't forget to fasten your seatbelts!" by Phineas (unique line; testing a track)
- "Hey Candace, what'cha doin'?" by Isabella (unique line; The Game Smashers menu)
- "You gotta see what Phineas and Ferb are doing." by Candace, from "Rollercoaster" (The Game Smashers menu)
- "Witness my latest invention." by Doofenshmirtz (unique line; Arena menu)
- Although Isabella's line was exclusive to the game at the time, it was eventually used in "We Call it Maze" by Phineas and "Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel" by her.
- This is the only game Jenny appears in.
- This is the first roller coaster creator related to Phineas and Ferb, the second being Phineas and Ferb's Coolest Coaster Designer Ever.
