The Floating Pep Squad Mobile is a blimp built by Phineas and Ferb to supply encouragement at the Father-Daughter Picnic competition.
History[]
Phineas and Ferb are pondering the activity for the day. Observing Candace and Lawrence practicing for a father-daughter competition, they become interested in helping their cause. Once the brothers hear that Linda will be there as support, the two set out to do the same in their own way. Isabella soon comes up to the backyard, agreeing to aid the boys in gathering the necessary materials for the plan.
With their project complete, Phineas and Ferb move on to present it to the Fireside Girls, revealing a blimp hub in which they can act as a pep squad for Candace. Ready to go, the group takes off into the air, arriving at Danville Park in time for the event to begin. The crew start their cheering scheme with a band march and skywriting, catching Candace's attention. Unaware of her father's state, she attempts to show it to the false him, to no avail.
Phineas continues his act as an announcer from afar, while the contest progresses. In the field, Candace finds herself annoyed with her mediocre performance, but decides to keep going regardless. The situation betters once the real Lawrence returns, allowing them to assume one of the top positions prior to the final event, the sack race. Initially almost losing, the duo remember their persistance chant, which is replicated by the cheer mob, giving them enough of a boost for the victory ("I Was a Middle Aged Robot").
Design[]
The Floating Pep Squad Mobile is an airship with a white envelope, orange tail fins, a black nose cone, an orange gondola with multiple windows, two black propellers, and a letter display monitor in the center. It is stationed in a light blue double trapeze base containing the entrance ladder. Coated blue, the interior encompasses an observation and media deck, an engine room, and a pink cylindrical bounce corridor.
Activities[]
Within the Floating Pep Squad Mobile, Ferb acts as the captain of operations, Phineas serves as the pilot and headset commentator, Isabella works as the substitute flyer, and the Fireside Girls function as cheerleaders. Encouragement provided by the gang includes a fanfare involving drums, cymbals, and two gold airhorns; a "Go Go Candace" skywriting; a letter display of "Go Candace!" and "Go Dad!" that doubles as an illustrator; a bleacher wave; the officiating of the last trial; and traditional cheerleading complete with papier-mâché heads of the two competitors, a "C"-imprinted speaker, and a red and yellow "Candace" flag.
Background Information[]
- For the dirigible's structure, Phineas and Ferb have to bounce on a giant pump and a fire hoosher, respectively, so that they can generate 40 thousand cubic feet of compressed air, as specified by them.
- Phineas' instructions to Isabella are to obtain pom-poms, a fog machine, and 372 feet of bungee cords. These materials are presumably appropriated for cheerleading, skywriting, and sliding ladders, in that order.
- When the boys introduce the blimp to the Fireside Girls, Phineas greets them with "ladies and girls", a variation of the traditional "ladies and gentlemen" employed in this case due to there being only females associated with the project.
- The airship appears to be primarily human-powered, given that the engine room is essentially a workout spot with stationary bicycles, which produce pollutant-free energy.
- During the mission, Ferb wears a pilot uniform to signalize his position of commander. To make up for his lack of speech, he utilizes a yellow whistle to direct the crew.
- From a close-up shot of the blimp's speedometer, it can be seen that its transmission levels are denoted by "PRND12". This is an alternate version of the PRNDL setup of standard automatic gearsticks, standing for "Park", "Reverse", "Neutral", "Drive", "1st Gear", and "2nd Gear".
- Despite not being originally a part of the plan, two other Fireside Girls partake in the final cheering.
- In the end, a plane falls apart above the dirigible, with a nail piece deflating it away into the sky.
- A recreation of the Floating Pep Squad Mobile is used to repel Doofenshmirtz-2's invasion of the Tri-State Area (Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension).
