"Turns out anything I hit with the ray starts dancing. [...] So I figured as long as I invented the thing, I might as well use it to whip up a little evil."
Doofenshmirtz[src]

The Dance Ray is a shaking stimulator modeled by Dr. Doofenshmirtz in an inadvertent maneuver to conquer the power of dance for wickedness.

History[]

An impassive Perry strolls into a particular spot in the backyard, aligned for him to fall on a tube with sufficient time to don his fedora prior to docking at the headquarters seat. Initiating the mission control posthaste, Major Monogram communicates the acute circumstances of the day, imparting the historical quarrel between good and evil in regards to the dancing dilemma to the agent as a form of contextualizing their fiendish foe's groovy advances towards a victory for villainy. Informed about the newest device, the spy is pressed to cease its acts.

Descending in the middle of a jam session, Perry attempts to ambush the doctor from behind, only to be snared in a leg warmer when it comes to a close. Doofenshmirtz subsequently demonstrates the prideful cut-out of his magazine highlight behind them, beginning the perky discussion on the recent rhythmic mayhem, accidentally incited by a blueprint destined for an instant dryer. Observing the massive success, he ponders its possible foul uses, a thought bluntly stalled by the attacking platypus, who hastily swings himself out of the rope restraints.

Because of the jumbled bickering, the hustling machine is unintentionally activated by Perry, firing at the two nemeses as they collide near a backside wall in what bounds them together on a waltzing routine. The coerced movement continues for several minutes, until Doofenshmirtz can kick the agent off of his grasp and into the contraption, triggering it to shoot a blast at itself through a reflection. Finally, as the bouncing and prancing infects the hideout, the spy conducts the gadget in a conga line for it to drop from the balcony ("Out of Toon").

Design[]

The Dance Ray is a mounted ray formed with a lavender spherical framework, a purple round base, four purple cylindrical support legs, twelve lavender spherical pieces, four purple feet, a lavender truncated cone cannon, two purple round barrel extremities, a lime green upper antenna, a gray option pannel, a red activation dial, and a dark gray power cable.

Mechanics[]

The Dance Ray is a motion instigator operating on the basis of inherent involuntary stimuli. It launches out a guided beam, illustrated by a yellow aura, that prompts the target to reflexively dance even against their own will, functioning on both animate and inanimate entities. Presumably, it alters the chemical balance of the motor cortex in living organisms to force regulated movements, and greatly agitates the molecules of non-living beings to emulate unconscious shifts in them.

Background Information[]

  • Upon greeting Perry, Monogram blurts out an apology concerning the usage of the emergency chute for an entrance without telling him, hence causing his sudden shock in the descent. The boss reasons that there is an urgent matter to discuss, quipping the phrase "emergency chute" to get the point across.
  • According to Monogram, the forces of good and evil have been in a dancing stalemate for a century, citing the reason for it as the perilous unlimited potential it may bring. Emphasis on the notion is tried through a coordinated shout with Carl, who narrowly misses the timing twice.
  • Deviousness' advantage on the groovy conflict is trasmitted through the Evil Beat! magazine, as indicated by the major to the listening agent. Its Doofenshmirtz featurette is printed in a sizeable stand placed on the laboratory, the price of which being allegedly quite high.
  • It is stated by Monogram that no one has been able to defeat a nefarious ploy while dancing, the known factoid serving as a caution warning to Perry. This is acknowledged by Doofenshmirtz once the widget is destroyed, as evidenced by his astonishment on the spy becoming the first to achieve the feat.
  • Elucidating the machine's creation, Doofenshmirtz recounts his plan to design an instant drying ray for his usual clothes after his dryer broke, coming to construct a whirling device in its place. A test run affected the garments, which are shown moving on the right side of the closet.
  • A second test subject for the gadget had been the dryer repairman, who got stuck in a bouncing state as a consequence of its use. He is positioned on the left side of the closet for showcase, agonizingly screaming about the dreadfulness of forced self-expression in the process.
  • While the scientist speaks, Perry proceeds to chomp his warming confiner to free himself, quickly doing so before Heinz can think up a plan to employ the contraption for. His swinging not only prompts the doctor to crash through the huge cover in his exact pose, but elicits the spy's own ripping of it.
  • A fourth wall break is done by Doofenshmirtz once he and Perry start to dance together, given that he turns to the camera in order to announce the platypus' leading in the performance, although he warms up to the agent's prancing companionship following a long interval.
  • As Doofenshmirtz reportedly gets down in dancing, Perry takes the opportunity to enact a tropical line with the machine, knowingly leading it to its destruction. Focused on the motion, Heinz reminds him that they are doing the Macarena, perceiving the true act afterwards.
  • One last ray is fired prior to the device's explosion, incidentally striking a studio monitor in front of a live audience, provoking the object to leave the scene in an energetic movement whilst influencing all the spectators into doing the same via an extensive conga line.
  • The Dance Ray is one of the many inventions exhibited in the memory collage devoted to Doofenshmirtz's schematic failures ("This Is Your Backstory").
  • Doofenshmirtz calls this device the "Dance-Away-inator" when mentioning it in a psychological analysis ("Deconstructing Doof").
