"Okay, I jury-rigged Ferb's old GPS device to create a Cute-Tracker. It locks on to the cutest thing in the area, so it should lead us right to Meap." — Phineas[src] |
The Cute-Tracker is a tracking radar built by Phineas to pinpoint the location of a cute alien friend of his.
History[]
As the boys progress with the renovation of a spaceship, Isabella comes to the backyard in her usual curious mood. Phineas introduces their new alien friend as the most adorable creature there is, although she begs to differ from that affirmation, to his obliviousness. Noting Meap's vanishing, he moves on to manufacture a tracking system in order to locate the extraterrestrial, getting a faraway signal. Leaving Ferb to continue the repairs, the two depart for the cute hunt around the city.
In the front yard, Phineas attempts to clear an unforeseen interference, which Isabella claims to be her fault. The problem is sorted out before she can be acknowledged, permitting the duo to carry on with their efforts. Walking downtown, the indicator of the detector gets stronger, leading her to wonder how sweetness is exactly defined for their purposes. To that inquiry, he answers that it is a self-describing meter, albeit not free of perturbations, further upsetting her for missing another cue.
Later, Phineas and Isabella are confronting an evil being, when they once more find out that Meap is missing. Since the pointer is rough, the girl tells her crush that she is likely responsible for the noise, but he denies, changing the device to regular mode to prove it, only to overload it due to her attribute ("The Chronicles of Meap"). A rebooted version of the tracker is built for a second adventure to facilitate the search for cutonium, guiding the kids to a perilous face-off with their intergalactic enemy ("Meapless in Seattle").
Design[]
The Cute-Tracker is a teal square device with two white-tipped gray spherical antennas in the left and right extremities, a lime striped trapeze upper mark, a rectangular central monitor, two yellow left and right arrow buttons, and a circular red button.
The Cute-Tracker 2.0 is a gray tilted device with a light gray opaque antennas, a dark gray handle, a two-screw back compartment, a square monitor, a black circular rotating pointer, a light blue level marker, and a lime striped rectangular lower mark.
Mechanics[]
Both versions of the Cute-Tracker are tracking systems modeled after navigation programs. Tuned in to cuteness, the apparel detect the highest qualitative levels in a wide radius, displaying the determined location in their panel. The corresponding signal can be adjusted to prevent interferences, by operating the antennas in the first module, and touching the pointer in the upgraded unit.
Background Information[]
- According to Phineas, the first tracker is constructed by appropriating Ferb's old GPS device.
- The initial acquired signal is marked three miles away from the backyard, as pointed out by Phineas.
- Agreeing to help, Isabella sarcastically remarks that she has to earn the "You Wouldn't Know Cute If It Bit Your Legs Off" Patch, a jab disregarded by Phineas.
- While Phineas checks up the noise, Isabella tries to demonstrate her cuteness by humming to a butterfly's rhythm.
- Phineas confirms that he cannot actually define cute, implying the meter is somewhat arbitrary. This is an indirect nod to the difficulty of gathering qualitative metrics in research.
- Differently to the original model, the 2.0 version features an upper section of the monitor, which shows the target place's name.
- Isabella is considered to be cuter than Meap by the tracking standards, a fact scientifically confirmed by Phineas in the second escapade. Because of her, he snaps out of a cute trance caused by a cutonium-amplified Mitch; he subsequently tries to showcase the 8000 ohm resistor mechanism implemented to bypass her properties, breaking the newer gadget in the process.
- To conclude her adorableness arc, Isabella is motivated by Phineas to out-cute the alien villain using her core attribute, succeeding in doing so.
