"We're building a machine to make the biggest, most durable bubble ever." — Phineas[src] |
The Bubble Machine is a bubble blower built by Phineas and Ferb for an exquisite flight experience in the most durable bubble ever.
History[]
Phineas and Ferb are having fun blowing bubbles in the backyard when Baljeet and Buford show up. Hearing about the boys' activity, the latter exclaims his desire to float around in a huge bubble, giving the brothers the idea to turn that into reality. At the park, the kids finalize the project's design, missing only one ingredient to put everything together. Isabella and the Fireside Girls then approach them, offering to get the sap needed for durability.
While the girls go on an adventure for the required substance, the boys put the finishing touches to their device. Soon, the scouts come back with the sap, enabling the machine's activation. The giant bubble quickly encases the gang, who all begin to fly across town at the breeze's path. Throughout the ride, the kids make use of the bubble's properties to dodge incoming obstacles.
Eventually, they find themselves on track to hit a pointy public monument. In a panic, Baljeet hyperventilates, causing the bubble to expand steadily. This leads the others to do the same, successfully getting them out of danger. Meanwhile, Candace, practicing her driving, notices her siblings' plan and pursues them in an attempt to show her mom, only for the bubble to pop in one of the park's trees before Linda can see it ("Bubble Boys").
Design[]
The Bubble Machine is a grey rectangular prism-shaped device with a compound opening on top, four orange connectors on the side, a control panel on the back containing a white board, a teal screen, a red valve, and three orange, green, and blue buttons; a shooter on the front, four dark grey support legs, and four black wheels.
Mechanics[]
The Bubble Machine forms bubbles via a specific mixture, which is adequately mixed via the control panel. One of the substances involved is sap, with which the durability and permeability can be configured. Once ready, the bubble is blown through the front, prepared to encapsulate the riders.
Background Information[]
- Buford's initial idea had been to fly in a bubble like a woodland pixie. Realizing his mistake, he later corrects it to doing it like a man.
- The necessary sap for the bubble comes specifically from a maracanut tree, a rare specimen only found in a dusty amusement park.
- According to Phineas, the sap's non-congealed state allows thick matter to pass through the semipermeable membrane, thus permitting them to enter the bubble.
- Early on their voyage, the kids are pushed by a downward draft of air, characteristic of high pressure regions.
- During the flight, the gang passes by a bridge, power lines, and a cactus garden. The latter two are dodged by swerving to another side.
- The solution to the public art conundrum relies on the process of hyperventilating to blow the bubble upwards. In actuality, this would not work, as human breathing does not produce oxygen, therefore the amount of air inside is constant.
- In addition, the bubble could not ascend from there due to the air within being heavier than the one outside, thanks to the formation of carbon dioxide in the act of respiration.
- A recreation of the Bubble Machine is used to repel Doofenshmirtz-2's invasion of the Tri-State Area (Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension).
- The Bubble Machine appeared in the campground map of the Summer Vacation Summerizer as part of the interaction of the bottle of bubbles item with Phineas, which resulted in an animation of him using the device to blow a giant bubble for Buford.
- The Bubble Machine was available to be placed in Phineas and Ferb's card in The Dad-inator.
- The Bubble Machine was one of the printable stickers in the inators sheet for 2D Yourself.
