"All right boys, make it big and make it obvious." — Candace[src] |
The Big and Obvious Ride is an amusement ride built by Phineas and Ferb at Candace's suggestion to investigate the disappearances of the Big Ideas.
History[]
Candace approaches Phineas and Ferb to discuss the disappearances of their inventions. With their curiosity sparked, the boys set out to build something while their sister and Stacy keep watch. As they begin patrol, Candace hands a saline solution to her friend to minimize blinking. Isabella, Buford, and Baljeet soon show up, and agree to help the girls in watching the invention.
Later, the ride is completed. The gang, the Fireside Girls, Candace, and Stacy all continue to eye it intently, turning the agonizing silence into music. Some time after, Candace realizes that the Big Ideas usually disappear following their usage, prompting her to let the kids play with it. Afterwards, everyone turns to hear the sound of Linda's car, just as the ride is hit by a ray.
Candace thinks that her mom arriving triggers the invention's vanishing, so she tests it by moving the car back and forth. Confused, Linda decides to park in the front, but the ride is shot nevertheless. Phineas then notices that his creation is still there, but invisible, giving his sister the idea to use paint in order to show it. While everyone is focused on Candace, the invention is hit once more, ultimately causing it to disintegrate before Linda can see it ("Don't Even Blink").
Design[]
The Big and Obvious Ride is a pendulum ride consisting of a yellow and white cone base with a red top, a yellow rocket-shaped post with four red flags on top and a white axle on the middle, eight grey arms connected to the axle, and eight red and black passenger gondolas.
Mechanics[]
The Big and Obvious Ride functions on rotating motion. Once the passengers are ready, it begins spinning the carts in a multitude of directions, ranging from upside down to a sideways eight. The speed levels vary from regular to many rotations per second.
Background Information[]
- When Phineas and Ferb begin the construction of the ride, they call their site the "Big and Obvious Construction Site", taking Candace's request of making their invention big and obvious. This initial naming is likely what leads to the final name of the ride.
- The coming soon plaque for the ride reads as "Coming Soon: Big Obvious Ride", missing the "and" due to spacing limitations.
- At certain points during the waiting, the ride appears to have six arms instead of eight.
- The Big and Obvious Ride is seen in the montage of clips used by Buford in his video dedicated to Phineas ("Phineas' Birthday Clip-O-Rama!").
- The Big and Obvious Ride was an item in the carnival map of the Summer Vacation Summerizer. Combining it with Phineas resulted in an animation of him riding it.
- The Big and Obvious Ride was a usable part in the game Robot-inator.
