"That's it! We'll use all our leftovers and make an invention casserole!" — Phineas[src] |
The Backyard Hodge Podge is a hodge podge put together by Phineas and Ferb as a way of reutilizing old materials of theirs.
History[]
Buford and Baljeet arrive in the garage to inquire of the boys about zombie vegetarianism, shortly before Isabella joins them. Curious, she wonders what her friends are planning, which Phineas states is solving relevant problems. Clarifying, he poses that there are a lot of leftover parts from previous inventions, though he is uncertain on how to recycle them. Inspired by the Van Stomm family method, the brothers decide to create a casserole of their projects.
The kids start to collect pieces from their own past ventures for the mashup, leaving it all in the backyard. Thinking of different uses for each item, the boys begin to sort out the hodge podge. With a musical complement by Parry Gripp, they put together the object mixture, whilst showcasing a plethora of both common and unusual parts. The project complete, the gang tries it out, experimenting its multiple facets throughout.
Meanwhile, an exhausted Linda comes out of the house to get some fresh air, stumbling upon her children's creation. Baffled, she asks Candace if that is a hallucination, seemingly confirming the sleep deprivation status once the teenager is externally blinded. Not taking it, the mother goes inside to take a nap, only to wake up later to the sight of the crazy jumble, compelling her to return to bed ("Backyard Hodge Podge").
Design[]
The Backyard Hodge Podge is a structure composed of object scraps, taking the form of a castle with junk remains as the base, three gray skyscraper-esque towers; a gray left one with a beige and white top, a light brown middle one with a brown-green-red top, and an artistic right one comprised entirely of items. Sustained by a yellow bottom, the design is interconnected to a blue slide, and several leisure pieces.
Mechanics[]
The Backyard Hodge Podge is a collection of leftover materials, which can be altered in size with the Megasizer and Microsizer devices to serve different purposes. Among the possible inside activities, there is a giant bouncy spool, a sweatshirt parachute, a bumpy slide, a gum drop, and a monster truck track.

- Certain items pertain to other projects by the kids:
- Slide rulers: World of Calculation exhibit.
- Coat hangers: Leaning Tower of Closet Space.
- Catering trays: Giant picnic.
- Parachute: Drag race.
- Upon seeing the sweatshirt, Phineas proposes to enlargen it for a parachute. Afterwards, he suggests the opposite, shrinking a chute to form a shirt.
- The participants in the plan are Phineas, Ferb, Isabella, Baljeet, Buford, Irving, the Fireside Girls, four neighborhood kids, and Parry Gripp.
- Riding the spool, Buford instructs for it to be cranked up to double black diamond, referring to the difficulty rating in skiing.
- The old shirt appears to have an odd odor, as specified by Parry Gripp and a kid riding it.
