"Our goal is to bring the plight of the aglet to the world's attention. First, we'll use these shoelaces to make Aglet Awareness Ribbons. Never forget the aglet!" — Phineas[src] |
The Aglet Awareness is an awareness campaign hosted by Phineas and Ferb that aims to widely publicize the notion of aglets in a global range.
History[]
Lawrence is striving to solve a tip-themed crossword puzzle during breakfast, with Linda providing a few answers at his request. Progressing on it, he reaches a question regarding the end of the shoelace, a term that no one seems to know. Wondering about it, Phineas and Ferb resolve to assimilate it by searching, although Candace is occupying the computer. Instead, they resort to Baljeet, who discovers the answer to their inquiry in a fact book, from which the neglected nature of the word is made clear.
Back in the house, the boys disclose the meaning of an aglet to their parents, much to their intrigue. Conversely to their sister's attitude, Phineas and Ferb set out to spread the trivia around, enlisting the help of the gang in order to do so. They kick off the promotion movement with the distribution of unique ribbons for citizens in the mall, rapidly popularizing a life-changing effort through it, much to Candace's utter disbelief of its effectiveness, going so far as to affect her own regularly unaware mother.
In spite of her fears, Candace accepts the kids' invitation of performing at the worldwide concert on the premise of becoming a star. The arena is soon filled up from front to back, housing an astounding number of enthusiastic spectators. Knowing their overall impact, the group unfolds a heartfelt number on the importance of pointless items, wherein the accompanying teenager voices her true feelings on the subject. Afterwards, the concept is abruptly erased from the populace's minds, perplexing the girl ("Tip of the Day").
Design[]
The Aglet Awareness is an advertising motion centered around the extremity of the shoelace, having the slogan "Tie the World Together". Conforming to the motif, ribbons are tailored using shoe parts of different colors, particularly white, red, green, blue, orange, purple, and indigo. For the Aglet Aid concert, the arena's billboards are decorated with laces in the borders, and the stage is delimited by two red boots.
Activities[]
The Aglet Awareness is a consciousness-raising effort arranged in a simplistic schematic; promoters roll out Awareness Ribbons throughout town alongside a brief explanation of the aglet, captivating even the less patient individuals. A domino effect is then enacted, as people continuously disseminate the message across the world, until it becomes a noted phenomenon, at which point the worldwide celebration is staged.
Background Information[]
- The Aglet Aid is a parody of the Band Aid charity events featuring musicians from the United Kingdom.
- The obscurity of aglets is highlighted by Linda's lack of knowledge on them, in contrast to knowning of the metal tip of an umbrella, the ferrule, and the tip on the elbow, the olecranon.
- Seeing her parents' crossword struggle, Candace reminds them of computer searching, condescendingly remarking to her siblings that such is the purpose of technology. While she looks at a video, the boys rebound her statement when asking if she had found the term.
- Baljeet obtains information about the aglet in Volume 8 of the book A Child's Guide to Useless Shoelace Facts, which describes the object as one of the most useful ignored inventions in history.
- Linda initially mistakes "aglet" for a greeting, replying to Phineas' presentation of the term with "aglet you too".
- Ferb enlightens his friends on the aglet by pulling a chart with an image of himself holding a pointer to his feet, directed at the shoelace.
- At first, Baljeet believes it would be a waste of time to spend hours promoting the item, but quickly changes his mind upon being threatened by Buford.
- From the experience in the mall, it can be inferred that learning about aglets has the added benefits of a partner accepting a marriage proposal, a worker getting job promotions, a bald person re-growing hair, and a deaf individual gaining the ability to hear.
- The ribbons worn by everyone are:
- When Phineas invites Candace to partake in the global show, she agrees to it and still maintains that the subject does not matter, to which he confusedly says "touché", referring to her technically being both right and wrong at the same time.
- Candace never actually learns the word in question, even though it is spelled out a handful of times, as pointed out by Phineas.
- The aglet of a giant boot is indicated by Doofenshmirtz, who had fallen inside the footwear ("At the Car Wash").
- Aglets can be seen in the fingers of the audience for the show of Max Modem and the Mainframes ("Ladies and Gentlemen, Meet Max Modem!").
- The aglet craze is remembered by Candace during her relating of Phineas and Ferb's antics to Linda, in which it is exemplified with a blue shoe ("Rollercoaster: The Musical!").
- The Aglet Aid is seen in the montage of clips used by Buford in his video dedicated to Phineas ("Phineas' Birthday Clip-O-Rama!").
- Aglets are mentioned by Doofenshmirtz-2 in Phineas and Ferb The Movie Game: The Dimension of Doooom!.
