The Phineas and Ferb Wiki will help celebrate the premiere of the Christmas special by unveiling a new skin (theme) on December 6th. Come back then and see our new look.
Phineas and Ferb has been getting lots of attention lately with its upcoming release of Phineas and Ferb's Christmas Vacation on Disney XD, Disney Channel, and even ABC Family. Disney.com has even given the world some nifty crafts to work on over the holidays:
There is a new Phineas and Ferb Podcast starring creators Dan Povenmire and Swampy Marsh. In the first episode, they explain some of their thought processes behind the Christmas special and even do the Doofenshmirtz and Monogram voices.
Ratings are also up. Phineas and Ferb cracked the top 10 cable shows for the week ending November 22, 2009. The boys beat out everyone's favorite denizen of a pineapple under the sea.
You have a few more days until the deadline to enter to win the Phineas and Ferb guitar featuring hand-drawn characters from creators Dan Povenmire and Swampy Marsh. This contest is only open to U.S. residents over the age of 18. Have your parents sign up.
It should also be noted that our wiki is climbing the charts on Google. We are the #1 result for the Christmas special, and fourth for the show in general after the official site, Wikipedia, and IMDb. We also have broken into the top 40 wikis on Wikia as far as number of articles go. We get 56,000 visitors per month, 74% of whom visit the wiki daily. This is up from 16,000 visitors in June. For more information, keep an eye out for a year in review Crat Corner on January 1st.
The latest episodes to air in the United States were "What Do It Do?" and "Atlantis." Like I noted in my review update blog, the Gazette is running a bit behind on the reviews and, hopefully, this is now up to date with the new episodes. These two episodes are the last episodes that will air in the US until "Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation!" broadcasts in December, is press releases serve accurate.
To kick off, we have "What Do It Do?", an interesting episode which had some surprising laughs. Doof's latest convention is something he doesn't even know completely about — he built it in vein of a failed date at the drive-in back in the 80s with, yep, you guessed it, Linda Flynn. This was interesting as it confirmed what Dan Povenmire said during the 2009 Radio Disney premiere; this was just another example about how awesome the continuity is with this show. The episode kicks off right into the action with Perry and Doof fighting on a hover platform, which is loaded with thousands of hidden traps Doof can't even find himself. This was really funny to see Doof getting put in his own traps and really showed just how incompetent he is — but we love him nonetheless.
So in their battle, the machine gets thrust down onto the ground and lands in the Flynn-Fletcher house. Linda and Candace see it, but it's not the boys invention like they think. So while Phineas and Ferb, along with the rest of the gang (including Irving, but I'll talk about him below), try and figure out what the machine is, Candace and Linda try to get Lawrence home so he can see it; however, old Lawrence is really busy trying to give a confusing, long speech about history to a college. This was very funny, as Lawrence is such a fun character to use, and since Linda switched roles with Candace for the day. So, overall, the episode had some great laughs and an interesting take on characters: A-
Next up was "Atlantis." In this episode, the kids, including Irving, journey to the bottom of the beach where, who'da thunk it, Atlantis has been all this time. This was fun, especially with all the cracks at how easy it is to found lost historical things experts can't find (e.g., Amelia Earhart, the Titanic, etc.). Now that they've started including Irving as a regular, this leads to a pestering questions — is the show jumping the shark? My answer: no. Many shows have introduced characters into the series with intentions of using them for stuff other than boosting ratings. Just think about it — Faith in Buffy,Toph in Avatar, etc...all of them were introduced because the plot direction they were taking called for them, and they had full intentions of using them for an actual reason. Not to boost the ratings. I think Irving is like this, especially when you consider how he's being used — to represent the modern age nerd, to represent us, the fans. He's a caricature of the fanboy stereotype and isn't being used here the up the ratings — not the show even needs them (it's the highest rated cartoon on the airwaves in key demographics, remember?).
So, anyways, meanwhile, Candace and Linda build a sand castle for a contest, which really turns out bad. But when the kids raise Atlantis up to the surface, the judge, Jeremy, assumes it's their castle and declares them the winner immediately. Doof's plot was to use evil plants to take over the city, yet another example as to how green this show is. I really think the show deserves an EMA award, which would be Dan's and Swampy's second EMA award. But that's just me. Anyways, a good episode. Overall, B.

Big things are happening with the Tri-State Gazette
If you visit the main page for the Tri-State Gazette, you'll see that PDF versions are now available for the preview issue and issues 1 through 7. The page size is US Letter, but there is enough of a border around each page that it should print just fine onto other paper sizes like A4 without having to shrink the page to fit onto the paper.
The PDF versions will be available shortly after the online versions are published. In the issues, any words in blue are links you can click on that will take you back to the wiki, just like you do when you're reading the online version. If you click on a picture, it will take you to the page with that picture. If you click on a columnist's picture, you will be taken to their User page.
Each issue should be readable by any version of Adobe Acrobat (now called Adobe Reader) from version 4.0 on up. If you don't have a program that can read PDF files, you can get one for free from either of the following locations:
Looking ahead to the end of the year, we're kicking around the idea of making a bonus issue of the Gazette. The bonus issue would be just for fun, covering anything from crosswords, showing fan art, or maybe even a fan fiction story. Head on over to the Gazette'sTalk page and let us know what you'd like to see in it.
Finally, not too long from now, we should have some information on our "sister wikis". You may already be aware of the Phineas and Ferb Fanon site, where fan fiction stories can be posted. Recently, a new German wiki was created for our favorite show that wants to work hand-in-hand with our English wiki.
There are Phineas and Ferb wikis in different languages around the world, but most of them are independent of each other. For the ones that are willing, we can help them expand their selection of articles.
We'll have more on this in the future.

"What goes where"
A forum has been set up to discuss creating a new page that beginners and new visitors can go to to get the basics of "what goes where" on the wiki.
We've had several new people recently creating pages that aren't in the right places, but that's because we haven't shown them where those pages are supposed to go. Our main page and Community Portal do a good job of organizing the information, but neither one covers things like "what do I do if I just want to say 'hi'" or "I've got a great idea for a story", at least not in a way that's easy to see for a beginner.
Visit the forum and help us build a page to get beginners started in the right direction.
Today we went to the dump. I know, thrillsville, right?
Actually, it did turn out to be kind of exciting. While dad was unloading the truck, I started poking around some of the nearby trash heaps. You'll never guess what I found!
It was a robot! And not just any robot. It was a robot that looked like that green-haired kid! What was his name? Fred? No, it's not Fred. I can't think of his name right now. It will come to me.
To someone who is highly excitable, it might have looked exactly like that kid. But at that moment, it was just sitting there, looking a little lonely. I kinda felt sorry for it. I wanted to go over and check it out some more, but dad came over and said it was time to go.
As we drove home, I wondered what became of that little guy. I hope they treat him nice at the dump. Maybe he can help out by sorting the trash.
